The Boys producer says season four has 'the most disgusting thing he's ever seen in television'

The Prime Video series has already proven itself to be pretty disgusting

The visual effects supervisor and associate producer for Amazon Prime Video's The Boys has teased that the new series of the show contains 'the most disgusting thing' he's ever seen while working in the business.

In case you'd forgotten, this guy's talking about a show in which we've already seen a character shrink down, crawl inside a man's penis, then return to regular size and consequently cause their gracious host to violently explode. So it's safe to assume he's not exaggerating.

Stephen Fleet, who works as an associate producer on the sci-fi show, took to Twitter to make his bold claim this week as fans eagerly await updates on the new series of the show.

Season three of The Boys came to an end in July, but star Karl Urban previously assured the cast wouldn't be relaxing for long as he said the fourth season would begin shooting in August.

Speaking to Collider at the time, Urban said: "I think August 22, we're going to be starting season four. So I'm getting back, getting my Butcher back on, and I can't wait.

"It's a fun gang to play with. We work hard and play hard, and I can't wait to see where they take the characters from where we leave them at the end of this season."

It's unclear whether Fleet's encounter with the 'disgusting thing' happened during shooting or in post-production, but with a few months having passed since filming began, it's likely that at least some scenes are now in the hands of the post-production crew, including Fleet's VFX department.

Fleet has set a high bar for the new series with his post.

Those in charge of visual effects definitely have their work cut out for them as they bring to life many of the supernatural things that make The Boys who they are, but whether practical or digital, the new series is obviously stepping things up a notch.

Hinting at the some new extreme scenes, Fleet wrote: "I think I just saw the most disgusting thing I have seen working in this business thus far. #TheBoystv"

Prime Video hasn't yet confirmed a release date for the new series, so only time will tell when fans will get to see this entirely disgusting thing play out in front of them.

However, the previous three series of The Boys have all dropped between June and September, and with production already underway, we can keep our fingers crossed that the streamer will stick to the same pattern for the upcoming series.

Bring on the gore!
