Fans Think They've Worked Out The Villain For Stranger Things' Final Season

Stranger Things fans think they've worked out who the villain will be next season and, actually, it makes a lot of sense.

Warning, this article contains spoilers for Stranger Things 4.

Stranger Things fans think they've worked out who the villain will be next season and, actually, it makes a lot of sense.

As we eagerly count down the days for the next season of Netflix's hit show, like a kid waiting for Christmas, fans have already begun speculating about the plot.

A lot has happened in the latest - and perhaps most favourite - season of Stranger Things. We said goodbye to Eddie Muson (played by Joseph Quinn) in the most badass way possible, Mike was finally honest about his feelings for Eleven, and no one can wait to see who'll take over from Vecna as the resident baddie.

So, what's the fan theory about Stranger Things 5?

Well, its origins are sowed early in the show, season one to be precise, when the boys, Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Will (Noah Schnapp), Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin), and Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) play the 1984 edition of Dungeons and Dragons.

Now fans think the board game might hold the key to the final season's villain.

And it makes a lot of sense. In season one we met the Demogorgon, a character in the game, season two saw the introduction of the Mind Flayer and season four brought us Vecna, both of whom have comparable characters in the game.

But Vecna isn't the most powerful villain in Dungeons and Dragons. Borys, the Red Dragon, is.

And given that Will literally painted a picture of the boys battling a red dragon, you can see why the theory is gaining traction. One user shared it on social media saying: "I was watching Stranger Things 4 and realised something, Vecna is NOT the most powerful villain in Dungeons & Dragons, but Borys is a Red Dragon. So maybe?? It will appear in season 5 because Will painted it."

Noah Schnapp portrays Will Byers in Stranger Things.

Maybe indeed. To be honest, we're starting to wonder if the boys have been trapped inside the game this whole time.

Fans were, naturally, quick to comment on the theory, with one saying: "Damn. That actually is a good one."

While another added: "Bro just completed life."

A third seemed dead-certain it was going to happen, making a steep bet to prove it: "This is called foreshadowing. 😂 Yes Mike will be the one to defeat the dragon. I'll bet anyone some chick-fil-a."
