Steve-O says new Jackass TV show didn't happen because they were all left feeling 'undervalued'

The original Jackass star said he's 'not aware' of any reboots currently in the works.

Steve-O has shared the reason why a Jackass reboot didn’t come to fruition.

The immensely popular Jackass franchise returned to the big screen in 2022 with the release of Jackass Forever.

The stunt comedy film became a massive box office success and was well received by critics, injecting new life into the Jackass universe.

After grossing over $80.5 million worldwide against a budget of $10 million, it came as no surprise when Paramount Pictures, the company that distributed the film, looked into more ways to capitalise on the franchise’s continued success.

In May 2022, Paramount Global announced work had begun on a new Jackass TV series, however the specifics of what the series would entail were not confirmed at the time.

“Based off the success of Jackass Forever, we’re working with the creators to continue the partnership with a new series, bringing even more ridiculous antics straight to Paramount+,” Paramount Global CEO, Bob Bakish, told a post-earnings analyst call with the media.

But there have been no further updates since then, which is why a fan took the opportunity to ask Steve-O himself about the new Jackass series, during a Q&A on Reddit.

The professional daredevil, 48, replied on Sunday (14 May) explaining that there is no reboot series in the works, and shed some light on why it may not be happening in the future.

“There's no Jackass reboot show that I'm aware of,” he said. “But I know there was discussion of a Jackass themed game show a while back -- I'm pretty sure that never went anywhere, though (mostly because some dummies announced it to the press before the cast was ever made aware of it -- finding out about a project [you’re] doing from social media isn't the best for morale-- that is to say, it didn't make us feel valued or appreciated).”

It is unclear whether the reboot announced by Bakish is the game show Steve-O referred to in his answer or if they are different projects.

UNILAD has approached Paramount for comment.

In addition to Steve-O, Jackass Forever stars the original pranksters Johnny Knoxville, Dace England, Wee Man, Danger Ehren, Chris Pontius and Preston Lacy, as well as newcomers Jasper Dolphin Poopies and Rachel Wolfson.

Elsewhere in the chat with fans, Steve-O revealed his 'body is f***ing falling apart' after taking part in the most mind-blowing stunts known to man for the last two decades.

That wasn't the only thing Steve-O revealed in the Reddit AMA, as fans were clued in on the Jackass star's favourite tattoos, naughty airport antics, and sadly, what cast member he's no longer in touch with.

A big day for Steve-O fans indeed.
