Fans looking forward to the release of Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum's new movie may just have got a little more excited, as the film premiered to rave reviews.

There's still a month to go until those of us in the UK will get to see The Lost City in cinemas, but some critics were given a chance to take a first look at the upcoming action adventure comedy during its world premiere at SXSW, and it seems like most were refreshingly impressed.

The first verdicts are in, and to the surprise of many predicting yet another superstar-loaded dud, the results are pretty unanimous, earning The Lost City a perfect 100% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes. You can watch the trailer below:

In the early reviews, The Lost City has received praise for providing a 'modern twist' to the adventure movie genre, with critics pleasantly surprised by film's snappy two hour run time.

To be fair, the film is packed with an extremely likeable cast, including not only Bullock and Tatum, but also Daniel Radcliffe, Brad Pitt and a host of other comedic talents.

And while some critics acknowledged the potential difficulties in juggling a cast stuffed full of A-listers, it seems to have paid off, with the two lead stars in particular being singled out by many for their 'instant chemistry' on screen.

'Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum create a rhythm of movement and sound that causes their dynamite chemistry to leap off-screen and smack you in the face,' Deadline's Valerie Complex wrote, with The Playlist describing the film as 'a fun ride and a loving throwback to a certain kind of star-laden character-led adventure films Hollywood doesn't seem to have time for anymore.'

Others were a tad more cautious in their praise, with The Wrap labelling the film 'pleasant,' yet 'unlikely to satisfy those thirsting for action and adventure.'

But in general, the response seems to be one of pleasant surprise.

'The Lost City is a film you can escape your troubles with for a couple of hours. Award-winning? Nope, but it is fun (and funny!)' the Austin Chronicle writes.

It remains to be seen whether the positive early reviews will hold up once more people get a chance to watch the movie, but kicking off with a 100% fresh rating certainly won't hurt when it comes to getting bums in seats once The Lost City hits cinemas.

You can catch it from April 15 in the UK and March 25 in the US.
