We're impatiently waiting...

Great news Parks and Rec fans – a core member of the series has confirmed that ‘every single’ member of the cast would be up for a potential reboot.

The hit NBC show has maintained its sky-high popularity, with the show seeing a resurgence in viewership in recent years.

Despite the early seasons of the show receiving low ratings, these steadily climbed – with over 4 million live viewers watching the finale of Parks and Recreation.

With The Office receiving a reboot starring Domhnall Gleeson, talk online has understandably headed over to a potential reboot of NBC’s other uber-successful office sit-com – Parks and Rec.

In an exclusive interview with UNILAD discussing her new AppleTV+ show Sunny, we asked Rashida Jones about the chances of a reboot for the beloved show, and were met with a more positive answer than expected.

She said: “Oh, anytime, any day. I mean, we all are still friends, we text. I talk to Amy [Poehler] every day.

“If there's a reason and somebody says, ‘Let's do it’, I think every single one of us would say yes.”

When asked if any reboot had been discussed, she said: “I mean, yes. We're all like, ‘Come on, let's go’. But you know, the writers gotta get it going.

“I think we have to have a reason. We have to feel like there's a good reason to do it, you know, not just to do it.”

The cast have reunited once before, for A Parks and Recreation Special in 2020.

This special saw the characters reunited on a zoom call, with Leslie Knope striving to keep her friends connected despite the pandemic.

The special episode acted as a fundraiser for Feeding America’s COVID-19 Response Fund, raising over $2.8 million for the charitable fund.

A Parks and Recreation Special saw near all of the main cast return, even A-lister Chris Pratt.

Despite this though, cast member Adam Scott has responded to calls for a reboot in the past, and whilst he was not as convinced as Rashida Jones – he didn’t rule it out.

He said: “If they (the show’ creators) would ever be interested in doing something like that, it would be up to them.

“But I mean, I would go get a sandwich with all of those people. I wouldn’t have to be shooting the show. I just love all of ’em so much. I mean, the show itself sort of had a real ending.

“We did do something over the pandemic where we all got back together and made an episode.

“I don’t know if there would ever be any more, but I mean, I really don’t know. I love the show and love all the people. It’s always fun seeing any of them.

“I haven’t seen the show in a long time just because I miss it and I feel like it would be sad to watch it, but it’s just such a lovely show and lovely group of people.”

Sunny will make its global debut with the first two episodes on Wednesday, July 10, with new episodes every Wednesday through September 4, 2024
