Quentin Tarantino reveals which movie is his 'masterpiece' as fans praise most tense scene 'ever'

Quentin Tarantino has made it clear how he films about his long catalogue of cult classics

Quentin Tarantino has given the low down on his most popular films and made it clear which one he considers his masterpiece.

If you ask a group of Quentin Tarantino fans which is his best film, you are likely going to get a different essay-length answer from each of them.

If you don’t believe me, just check any YouTube comment section or Reddit thread discussing his work and you’ll know you have disturbed the film-buff hornets nest.

With that said, the two time Oscar-winner has revealed what he truly thinks about his own movies during an interview on The Church of Tarantino podcast just last month.

He said: “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is my favorite, Inglourious Basterds’ is my best. But I think Kill Bill is the ultimate Quentin movie, like nobody else could’ve made it.

“Every aspect about it is so particularly ripped, like with tentacles and bloody tissue, from my imagination and my id and my loves and my passion and my obsession.

“So I think ‘Kill Bill’ is the movie I was born to make, I think ‘Inglourious Basterds’ is my masterpiece, but ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’ is my favorite.”

Bad luck to the many Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs fans out there, it seems ‘Mr Brown’ has spoken and picked Inglourious Basterds as his ‘masterpiece’.

Admittedly, it is easy to see why; the film is brilliantly tense, and surprisingly hilarious for a film that is intentionally revisionist about WW2 and the end of the nazis.

For those few who have never given it a watch, the film focuses on a group of guerrilla warfare nazi-killers known as ‘The Basterds’, who hope to kill as many high-ranking nazi officials as possible.

All the while, a Jewish girl, who went into hiding in occupied France, also wants to avenge her murdered family and kill nazi’s who coincidentally end up holding a film premier in her cinema.

The film is as brilliant as it is violent and currently holds an impressive 89 percent on Rotten Tomatoes and 8.9/10 on IMDB.

The film is currently available to rent on Apple TV and on Amazon Prime.

There is one scene that fans still can’t get enough of despite the movie coming out back in 2009.

The film sees members of The Basterds meeting a spy in a bar in a basement and things get so unbelievably uneasy some fans have called it ‘the most tense scene ever’.

Without giving too much away, this is what some fans have said of the scene on Reddit.

One user wrote: “I think this is Tarantino's best tension building scene, it's something like 10-15 minutes long but you spend the whole time on the edge of your seat.”

Another added: “Probably my favorite scene in the whole film- along with the opening and the strudel scene.”

A third commented: “Quentin Tarantino seems to be the master of table conversations. Whether enemies or allies, there's always tension at the table.”

With another simply saying: “I heard a bunch of people gasp in the theater at this [scene].”

Now you know what film you have to add to your watch list, so you best get to it!
