If you've not come up with a New Year's resolution yet, then maybe consider staying in and watching more TV, because Netflix has a new series that's bound to have you hooked.

The five-part series comes from the same creator as previous Netflix hits Fool Me Once, Safe, and The Stranger; all of which have earned scores of more than 70 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.

Based on a book by author Harlan Coben, the new series follows Detective Kat Donovan, played by Rosalind Eleazar, who is left stunned as she comes across her ex-fiancé and former love of her life, Josh, on a dating app.

It might not be that shocking - if Josh hadn't disappeared 11 years earlier.

The sighting forces Donovan to revisit old wounds and buried secrets, including a mystery surrounding the death of her father, and in true Harlen Coben fashion it's absolutely packed to the brim with twists and turns.

The series, titled Missing You, only arrived on Netflix yesterday (January 1), but fans are already singing its praises and describing themselves as 'addicted'.

"Missing You on Netflix is a fantastic watch," one fan wrote on Twitter, as another posted: "Missing You on Netflix is the best thing I’ve watched in ages so so good."

Other viewers admitted to watching all five episodes in one day, with one writing: "Just finished Missing You on Netflix in one day. Did not disappoint! You can see how exciting my New Years Day went, can't you?"

Another added: "On the fourth episode of five of #MissingYou on @NetflixUK. Nothing better than binge-watching the new @HarlanCoben, cuddled up in the warm, when the weather is bleak outside!"

Coben spoke to Netflix's Tudum about all of the mysteries and questions raised in his new series, saying: "There’s a bigger conspiracy at work here, one that Kat has to really uncover. It starts very, very small, but at the end of Episode 1, you realize this is going to be something that affects a lot of people.

"But mostly it’s about the heart. It’s about that longing. Most of us have someone in our lives who we’ve dated and, in a sense, is a ‘what if.’ And for Kat, this is the ultimate ‘what if.’"

Fans of Coben's work might recognize a few familiar faces in the new series, with Richard Armitage, Marc Warren, and James Nesbitt among the actors who have previously collaborated with Coben returning for roles in this new mystery.

The series will raise a lot of questions, but the first is this - why aren't you watching it already?
