Mean Girls fans will be delighted to know that the first ever trailer for the musical adaptation of the 2004 movie and 2018 Broadway show has OFFICIALLY landed.

Posted by Pop Crave on X - formerly known as Twitter - the exciting new trailer sees a whole host of stars from the original movie taking part in the singalong version.

Though there is no Rachel McAdams or Amanda Seyfried in sight, the movie musical will see a new era of the dreaded 'Plastics' terrorizing new girl Cady Heron (Angouri Rice) - who was first played by child star legend, Lindsay Lohan.

Renee Rapp - who played lead 'villain' Regina George in the original Broadway musical from 2019-2020 - will reinstate her role as Queen of North Shore High.

She's joined by Bebe Wood and Avantika Vandanapu as her fellow 'Plastics', Gretchen Weiners and Karen Smith.

Tim Meadows will reprise his role as the school principal.

Auli'i Cravalho's will play edgy emo Janis Ian, Jaquel Spivey will play sardonic gay best friend Damian Hubbard, and Christopher Briney will appear as heartthrob Aaron Samuels.

Amongst those from the noughties blockbuster that have reemerged almost 20 years later, are Tim Meadows, who plays the iconic Principal Duvall ('oh, hell no!').

Tina Fey - creator of the original movie - will also reprise her role as exhausted math teacher Ms Norbury.

There will also be some new faces from the Hollywood scene joining in for the musical version, including Bridesmaids funny-man Jon Hamm, who'll replace Dwayne Hill as the questionable Coach Carr.

Remember, 'don't have sex because you will get pregnant, and die'. Yep, hopefully that illustrious sex ed line will make a return.

And Jenna Fischer - best known for playing doe-eyed receptionist Pam Beesley in The Office US - will be joining the cast as Kady's mom.

Angouri Rice will play Cady Heron.

White Chicks actress Busy Phillipps will also appear as Regina's camera-holding perky-boobed mom, filling the prestigious shoes of 2004 star Amy Poehler.

Landing on 12 January, the trailer appears to include remakes of several legendary scenes from the original movie, including the sultry yet rib-tickling 'Jingle Bell Rock' dance at the school talent show.

Ms Norbury will once again make her emotional 'women supporting women' speech in the school gym, and Cady will dress as a widowed bride for Halloween ('Why are you dressed so scary?').

Renee Rapp will play Regina George.

The dreaded Burn Book will also make a return, as will world-famous script gems like "Get in, loser".

"This isn't your mother's Mean Girls..." the trailer reads. "A new twist from Tina Fey.

"Mean has never been this fun."

And we have NEVER been this excited.
