Fans of Interstellar claim they have a 'mind-blowing' new theory about the popular movie as it arrives on Netflix.

It's now been over 10 years since Christopher Nolan's star-studded space exploration movie - starring Matthew McConaughey, Matt Damon, Michael Caine and Anne Hathaway - first dazzled audiences on the big screen.

On December 6, 2024, Interstellar was re-released to more than 160 IMAX theatres in North America to celebrate the milestone, which was extended to 321 screens for a second week due to popular demand.

The movie raked in $15.2 million during its two-week 10th anniversary celebrations, according to Forbes, and now it has hit our home screens by coming to Netflix as of January 1.

The time-bending movie, which scores a whopping 8.7 out of 10 on IMDb, follows ex-NASA pilot Joseph Cooper (played by McConaughey) who is tasked with finding an alternative planet for humans to live on after Earth becomes uninhabitable.

Buzzing with the excitement of its re-return, fans of the hit movie have since been sharing their theories, with eagle-eyed TikToker Alex Stark claiming to have spied a mistake that will change the way you see the entire film.

Taking to the social media platform, Alex said: "I just rewatched Interstellar and I noticed what seems like a mistake - I just cannot un-see this."

He went on: "So the same footage is being used twice in completely different contexts. First, right in the beginning when Cooper has his crash dream sequence."

He then points at the screen of the aircraft saying 'look at this, remember this footage?', and then skips more than an hour into the movie.

Pointing at the screen, Alex continues: "There, when they're entering Miller's planet['s] atmosphere it's the exact same footage, and at first I thought it was a simple mistake but then I realized, this is Christopher Nolan - Christopher Nolan wouldn't reuse the same footage without a purpose, right?

"It didn't make sense until I looked at it from another perspective."

Winding back again to show a clip from the start of the film, the TikToker explains: "This is the opening scene and we see a crash in which that person inside that crash realistically should have died, so what if that actually happened?

"What if Cooper actually died in that accident right in the beginning of the movie, and I usually dismiss these Cooper is dead theories, but... I continued watching the movie with this theory in my mind and oh boy, does it change everything.

"So he dies and then everything we see from there is his journey into the afterlife - he can't stay on earth and has to leave."

The mic-drop revelation has stunned fans with the mind-blowing theory, as one commented: "We need Christopher Nolan to confirm this otherwise i won’t sleep for another 6 months."

Another added: "My brain still hurts from Tenet. I'm not ready for another Christopher Nolan theory."

And a third said: That means, that Interstellar has no beginning, and no ending."
