House of the Dragon fans have been left infuriated after spoilers for the finale leaked online before the episode was released.

There's nothing worse than stumbling upon a spoiler for a show that you've dedicated hours of your life to.

It would be one thing if you were still trying to avoid spoilers for Breaking Bad or Suits - they've been out for years, so you can't really blame fans for posting about them.

However, if you come across spoilers before the show has even been released to the world, that's a whole other level of frustrating.

Unfortunately, this is exactly what's happened with the series finale of House of the Dragon, which is set to air on HBO and Max streaming on 4 August.

That's still days away, but on Tuesday (30 July), numerous scenes from the final episode were posted on TikTok in an unexpected leak.

As much as 30 minutes of footage from the episode was posted across 14 videos on one TikTok account, and they swiftly racked up thousands of views.

The account was banned about three hours after the scenes were posted, but by then they'd already been saved and shared across other social media platforms, meaning unsuspecting fans could easily stumble upon them with one simple scroll.

In a statement addressing the incident, HBO told UNILAD: "We are aware that clips from the House of the Dragon season finale have surfaced across social media platforms.

"The clips were posted after an unintentional release from an international third-party distributor. HBO is aggressively monitoring and removing clips from the internet, and fans can watch the episode in its entirety this Sunday night on HBO and Max.”

Viewers soon began voicing their annoyance over the leak, with many urging HBO to try and do more to protect the show.

"A f**king tragedy," one person wrote as they tagged HBO on Twitter. "Your Security Team has always been a disgrace with this franchise. Would you do something about it at some point or what?"

"HBO security worse than king’s landing," added another.

"That f**king sucks man," wrote a third. "It’s Tuesday. How are you gonna avoid spoilers until Sunday night?"

Meanwhile, other social media users attempted to raise awareness of the leak to help fans avoid the spoilers, with one person posting: "The season finale of #HouseOfTheDragon is titled, “The Queen Who Never Was.”

"Unfortunately, the episode has been leaked online. Please beware on Twitter and going into the tag until it airs on Sunday. MAJOR spoilers are already circulating."

The unfortunate leak comes after the season one finale for House of the Dragon was posted online two days before the episode aired in October 2022.

HBO said at the time the season one leak came from a distribution partner in Europe, the Middle East or Africa.
