Dwayne Johnson has a strange clause in all of his movie contracts

Dwayne Johnson has appeared in a lot of films in his career so far - it's fair to say 'The Rock's' film list is as stacked as he is.

Dwayne Johnson has appeared in a lot of films in his career so far, from Fast & Furious to Jumanji - so it's fair to say 'The Rock's' film list is as stacked as he is.

And Johnson is very much seen as a strong and tough character on screen - whether it be Faster or Jungle Cruise.

However, that, in part, may be due to a strange clause he has implemented into his film contracts.

In the Fast & Furious nine-film franchise, you might have noticed that fight scenes are a common occurrence, but none of the films' main stars, including Johnson, ever lost those fights.

And that is because of a clause in the contract they sign for the films.

According to the Wall Street Journal last year, this all started with Fast and Furious' longest-running star Vin Diesel, who'd developed a system to which he assigned a numerical value to each blow he received on screen.

Diesel apparently had a producer - his younger sister - on hand to count how many punches he was taking during a fight scene to ensure he was meeting the contract.

Johnson and Jason Statham then caught wind of Vin Diesel's clever negotiation tactics and requested that they had something similar implemented into their contracts.

Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham negotiated a similar clause into their contract.

The report from the Wall Street Journal details: "According to producers and crew members on the films, Mr. Statham, 51 years old, negotiated an agreement with the studio that limits how badly he can be beaten up on screen.

"Mr. Johnson, 47, enlists producers, editors and fight coordinators to help make sure he always gives as good as he gets."

In a scene in 2017's Fate of the Furious, Johnson reportedly had a script tweaked to where he was sitting on the ground, instead of lying down when he took a beating in a fight.

Characters like Johnson and Vin Diesel in Fast & Furious are seen as the heroes, so seeing them getting beaten up to within an inch of their lives wouldn't exactly make sense.

According to Charles Peralo, a business culture news junkie who posts videos to TikTok, Johnson still has his no-lose contract in his latest film deals despite seemingly being done with Fast & Furious.

With his latest upcoming film the sequel to Moana, only time will tell if Johnson can remain undefeated.
