There’s a new crime drama that’s just launched on Netflix - and its ‘intense’ scenes have caused fans to claim it should be ‘required viewing’.

If you’re looking for a suspenseful new show to ring 2024 in with, then the streaming service has just the ticket.

Earlier this month, a Dutch series starring Nasrdin Dchar and Sophie Veldhuizen quietly dropped on Netflix.

At the time of writing, the show is climbing the UK charts and currently sits as the eighth most-watched programme today.

The hyped six-part crime offering follows Mardik Sardagh (Dchar) - a detective of Afghan descent who is distrusted by the country’s secret service.

While investigating a series of terrorist attacks that shake Amsterdam, Mardik realises that the culprit may be a close childhood friend.

So, if you like the sound of it already, then get a load of the trailer for The Golden Hour below:

The Netherlands-based show was first broadcast on NPO 3 back in October 2022 and Netflix dropped all episodes earlier this year.

Since airing, The Golden Hour has gone on to win the 2023 Rockie Award for Best Foreign Language Drama Series at the World Media Festival in Canada.

It also has a plethora of viewers chatting about it via social media.

Taking to YouTube, one fan of the TV series wrote: “I don't usually watched stories like this because my heart overflows with the injustices that so many people suffer through and the senselessness of it all.

“This story was extremely well written coordinated, elaborated and the whole production was top notched.”

Elsewhere, an X (formerly Twitter) user typed: “Just watched The Golden Hour on Netflix. Should be required viewing so people in this country can see what we are up against and wake up.”

All six episodes of The Golden Hour are available to stream now.

“The Golden Hour on Netflix…You have to hang on, but what a damn series,” replied a second.

A third said: “The Golden Hour on Netflix. 10/10.”

“The Golden Hour on Netflix I cut my breaths every 5 minutes,” admitted another fan.

A fifth commented: “The Golden Hour on Netflix is definitely worth the watch! The Dutch really done their thing here.”

At the time of writing, NL Film is yet to confirm whether Bobby Boermans’ Dutch show will be getting a series two.

However, if the thriller does get the green light, then you can expect the NPO title to drop on Netflix after premiering first in the Netherlands.

Watch all six episodes of The Golden Hour on Netflix now.
