A Netflix 'masterpiece' starring Tina Fey and Steve Carell has a 'punch to the gut' twist which could be seen to be hinted at earlier on in the series.

Time has flown and we're already nearly halfway through 2025 - yep, it's scary isn't it? - and one Netflix series has found itself branded the 'best thing [users have] seen all year' - a big claim given just how many bangers have come out so far.

Starring The Office's Steve Carell alongside Baby Mama's Tina Fey - the pair having last appeared on screen together around 15 years ago for 2010's Date Night - 'every episode' of the series has been praised as a 'warm hug' but also 'a punch to the gut - in the best way'.

And the 'punch to the gut'? Well, Fey revealed there's one moment in the very first episode which is 'the closest [the show] has to an Easter egg in the whole series'.

The Four Seasons plot and the 'Easter egg'

The comedy series follows the lives of three couples - one miserable pair, one boujee and another deeply in love.

The triple date embark on four holidays together over the different seasons - their relationships with not just their other half but each other evolving too.

In the penultimate episode of the series, viewers are delivered the ultimate 'gut punch' - Carell's character is killed off.

But could anyone have seen this coming?

Well, the cast revealed in a video for Netflix no one but Carell knew about his character's fate until the table read for the episode.

Fey later joked about a moment in the first episode being 'the closest' thing to 'an Easter egg' in the series - the scene when the couples arrive at the lake house and Nick (Carell) and Anne (Kerri Kenney-Silver) scare the rest of the group by pretending to be zombies.

During the scene, Fey's Kate shouts: "One of you is going to die."

Kenney-Silver joked: "See if we had listened, maybe we would have been more careful."

You may recognize Kenney-Silver from Reno 911 and there's other of the cast members who are probably familiar faces too.

Carell and Fey are joined by not only Kenney-Silver but Colman Domingo, Marco Calvani and Erika Henningsen.

Domingo starred in HBO series Euphoria, winning the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series in 2022.

Calvani wrote and directed 2024 romantic drama High Tide and Henningsen you might recognize from her work on Broadway or sitcom Girls5eva.

The series was based on the 1981 film of the same name written and directed by Alan Alda - who also appears as a guest in the series.

The Four Seasons was created by Fey, alongside Lang Fisher and Tracey Wigfield.

And it's gone down a treat with Netflix users.
