Netflix users outraged over new feature that's making people want to cancel subscriptions all together

People aren't happy that Netflix's basic plan has been discontinued

It's safe to say that some Netflix users aren't happy in the wake of recent changes to the streaming platform.

Arguably Netflix is home to some of the best TV out there, with Supacell being one example of a new addition to the platform that's gone down a storm with viewers.

But away from its impressive content, people aren't best pleased with the new subscription plans that have come into force at the start of this month.

From the start of July, Netflix officially scrapped its basic ad-free plan for new subscribers in the US and UK.

With this in mind, it seem as if some subscribers who were on this plan and have cancelled it have been left unable to access Netflix content until the end of their subscriptions.

One disgruntled film and TV fan took to Reddit to share a screenshot of the message they received.

While their plan is active until July 13, they can't actually watch anything on Netflix because the basic plan they were on has been discontinued. Instead, they're urged to purchase another subscription.

"Netflix won't let me watch the last few weeks of my subscription without [resubscribing]," the Redditor penned alongside the photo.

"There's no option to continue watching without selecting a new plan."

The new 'Standard with ads' plan will set you back $5.99, while its 'Standard' option costs an eye-watering $16.49. This is an ad-free option with full HD and can be streamed on two devices at once.

The third option is 'Premium' which is priced at $20.99. This subscription gives you access to ultra HD that can be streamed on four difference devices at once.

You can also download on six supported devices at a time and add two extra members to your subscription who do not live with you.

With these changes in mind, some people are threatening to boycott Netflix (or have already done so).

"F**k Netflix. The sooner they go under, the better," fumed one person on the Reddit thread.

"I had been a Netflix subscriber since the early DVD days, but finally cancelled around January of this year," said another. "The juice just wasn't worth the squeeze anymore."

Someone replied: "Same. I felt kinda bad canceling after all this time. Then realized it made no sense to feel bad because Netflix was the one raising prices and doesn't care about me one bit."

"Netflix without ads is $17/mo now? Jesus Christ," wrote a different person as they urged others to 'set sail' from the streaming service.
