A Netflix true crime documentary recently released about the death of an NFL quarterback has been gripping viewers.

The doc has shot up the charts of the streamer, already hitting number three despite only having just released.

It continues the Untold series produced by Netflix, which gives behind the scenes looks at the sports world.

    Check out the trailer here:

Untold: The Murder of Air McNair this time focuses on late NFL quarterback Steve ‘Air McNair’ who was gruesomely murdered in 2009.

This follows on from previous instalments which, whilst equally entertaining, were perhaps less serious entries than this time round.

    What happened to Steve McNair?

McNair, a quarterback, played for the Houston Oilers (who became the Tenessee Titans) and Baltimore Ravens during his career, appearing in three all-pro teams.

‘Air’ died in 2009, found shot four times.

He was found alongside his mistress, Sahel Kazemi, who was 20-years-old.

Police say McNair and Kazemi were having an affair. When he died, McNair was married to his wife for 12 years.

A police investigation into his death found that Kazemi had killed the football star in a murder-suicide.

She had bought the gun from an ex-con after finding out that McNair was cheating with other woman behind himself.

McNair had told her he was planning to divorce his wife and start his life with her according to testimony.

Untold: The Murder of Air McNair questions this course of events, however, looking to challenge the police investigation into what happened.

    Reviews

Netflix viewers have been loving it so far.

One tweeted hoping for more, saying: “Untold: The Murder of Air McNair is a fascinating watch. I only wish it was multiple episodes.”

As is typical of the Untold format, there is only the one entry into this story.

This didn’t stop viewers from hoping for more, with one replying to the above tweet saying: “It was a lot better than I thought it was going to be. Agreed it could’ve been a mini series”.

Another said: “It seemed like it ended abruptly. Seems like there could have been more to talk about”.

Titans fans were so emotional, they weren’t even sure if they could watch.

In a discussion thread on the subreddit r/TennesseeTitans, one fan commented: “I don’t even think I can bring myself to watch it”.

Another said: “I got choked up quite a few times, him and that team where an important part of my childhood.”

Untold: The Murder of Air McNair is available to stream on Netflix
