Netflix has confirmed when a 'wholesome' Pedro Pascal movie fans may not realize he stars in will be added to the platform.

The Chilean-American actor has been capturing hearts since 2014, with his break-out role as Oberyn Martell in Game of Thrones' fourth season.

That was way back in 2014, and he's gone on to grace our screens in the likes of The Mandalorian, Gladiator II and even SNL ever since.

Most recently, though, he's been breaking our hearts as Joel Miller in HBO's hit post-apocalyptic TV drama The Last of Us.

The story, an adaptation of Naughty Dog's video game, is set 20 years into the midst of a pandemic caused by a fungal infection, which turns people into 'zombies' and is behind the worldwide collapse of civilisation.

It follows main character Joel, played by Pascal, and 14-year-old Ellie, played by Bella Ramsey, as they travel the US on a mission to create a cure after discovering Ellie is immune to the virus.

The show's highly-anticipated second season began on April 13, two years since the first season debuted.

With new episodes dropping every Sunday evening, fans have been hooked.

But if you need something comforting to soften the blow of episode two's gut-wrenching twist, then you're in luck.

The 50-year-old starred in a wholesome family movie just last year. Struggling to recall it?

That might be because it was an animation; you'd be forgiven for not realizing Pascal played a pretty major role.

The movie has racked up an almost-flawless 96 percent critics score on Rottens Tomatoes and a 98 percent audience score - impressive, right?

And if that's not already got you sold, then perhaps its incredible celebrity cast will.

Mark Hamill, Bill Nighy, Catherine O'Hara, Matt Berry and Ving Rhames are among those lending their voices for the flick.

The movie in question is called The Wild Robot.

Joining Netflix on May 22, it follows service robot Roz (Lupita Nyong'o), who ends up shipwrecked on an uninhabited island.

Adapting to her new environment, Roz forges friendships with the local wildlife, including 'sly but well-meaning' fox Fink (Pascal).

Using kindness as her currency, Roz navigates her new life and eventually adopts orphaned goose (Heartstopper's Kit Connor).

The movie, nominated for three Oscars, was adapted from Peter Brown's best selling book series of the same name.

Rotten Tomatoes' critics consensus reads: "A simple tale told with great sophistication, The Wild Robot is wondrous entertainment that dazzles the eye while filling your heart to the brim."

One fan added: "Phenomenal graphics and the storyline to pull at your heart strings," as a second agreed: "Keeps you engaged the whole movie."

The Wild Robot joins Netflix on Saturday May 24.
