Netflix subscribers are hooked on an 'exhilarating' series with a perfect Rottens Tomatoes score.

With more than 7,000 titles on offer, choosing the next series to stream can prove difficult.

Well, Netflix subscribers have taken a liking to a particular 'zany' series, which has stormed the most-watch charts and racked up almost 140 million hours watched.

It's currently the third most-watched non-English TV series on the platform, behind Squid Game's final season and 'addictive' French drama Under a Dark Sun.

The anime series follows Momo Ayase, a high‑spirited high schooler from a family of spirit mediums, who believes in ghosts but scoffs at the mere mention of aliens life. Ken Takakura - nicknamed Okarun - is a quiet occult nerd who believes in aliens, yet denies ghosts.

After Momo rescues him from bullies, they spar over their beliefs and make a bizarre bet: Momo will visit an abandoned hospital - a known UFO hotspot - if Okarun will explore a haunted tunnel.

But their wager quickly backfires, forcing them to set aside their differences and team up for an unexpected mission.

The series in question is called Dan Da Dan, adapted from from Yukinobu Tatsu’s manga comics of the same name.

The first run of episodes have earned a flawless 100 percent Rotten Tomatoes score from critics, who hailed it 'gorgeously animated.'

"Bringing a big heart to go along with its bonkers imagination, Dan Da Dan comes roaring out of the gate as an exceptional Shōnen anime," their consensus read.

Since season one's October 2024 release, Dan Da Dan has been viewed for almost 134 million, as per FlixPatrol figures.

Its second season has been dropping in weekly instalments since the start of July, with its finale slated for September 18.

According to Netflix Tudum, between July 14 and July 20, the newly-released episodes have racked up five million hours viewed. That brings the show's total hours viewed to a huge 140 million - which will, of course, rise as more episodes are released and hype continues to grow.

Especially when you consider it was Netflix's most-watched anime series between July and December last year, racking up 95.6 million of its hours viewed then.

Fans scored the show a near-perfect 93 percent, as one who gave the show a go 'randomly' admitted they were 'hooked' from the first episode.

"Absolutely loved this show. I have no complaints at all. It's a must watch," a second social media user declared. Although, they did warn that episode seven made them cry.

"Great watch. The different anime styles keeps it interesting and the characters development keeps it fresh," a third said, while a fourth praised Dan Da Dan's 'raunchy humor.'

Dan Da Dan is streaming now on Netflix.
