Netflix has a new champion when it comes to its most viewed movie.
2021 film Red Notice had long held the top spot. Starring Ryan Reynolds, Gal Gadot, and Dwayne Johnson, the star-studded movie went on to pull in 230.9 million views on the streaming platform, says Variety.
The film caused a stir at the time for all the wrong reasons amid reports that Johnson caused issues on the set, having repeatedly rocked up late.

At one point it was said that Reynolds confronted Johnson about his tardiness and they had a 'huge fight' about it.
Away from the reported drama, the film itself drew in a lot of viewers and Red Notice still boasts an impressive 92 percent Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Allegedly the movie cost around $200 million to make, but it was all worth it when it became Netflix's most streamed movie ever — until recently.
Now there's a new reining champion and that's the brilliant, feel-good film that is KPop Demon Hunters.

Released on June 20, within a few days, the animation was poised to become one of Netflix's most-watched movies on record and garnered 80,000,000 views in four weeks.
And KPop Demon Hunters has now taken the title from Red Notice and has amassed a whopping 236,000,000 views, as well as an impressive 99 percent Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes.

The animation even got its own theatrical release recently — something that's rare when it comes to Netflix originals.
It hit theaters on August 23 and, according to sources, made anywhere between $18 million to $20 million. It was the highest grossing movie of the weekend, Variety reported.
KPop Demon Hunters is said to be playing on 1,700 screens across the US, 1,150 of which have been sold-out showings.

But what's the movie about, I hear you ask?
The synopsis given by Netflix via TUDUM reads: "When K-pop superstars Rumi (Arden Cho), Mira (May Hong), and Zoey (Ji-young Yoo) aren’t selling out stadiums or topping Billboard charts, they’re using their secret identities as demon hunters to protect their fans from ever-present supernatural danger.
"Together, they must face their biggest threat — an irresistible rival boy band of demons in disguise."
Its viewership isn't the only way KPop Demon Hunters has broken records; as of August 25 the film had four of its songs in the Billboard Top 10. 'Golden' has been in the number one spot for two weeks.

Other music from the movie in the top 10 include 'Your Idol', 'Soda Pop', and 'How It's Done'.
Long story short, if you haven't watched Kpop Demon Hunters yet, then you're missing out.
