Netflix fans 'too scared to sleep' after watching chilling true crime series

The spine-tingling stalker series has left viewers afraid of sleeping and dating

True crime fanatics really do have the pick of the bunch this new year when it comes to the hoard of harrowing films and spine-tingling series that have been added to Netflix over the last week.

Horrified and heartbroken viewers of terrifying cannibal disaster movie Society of the Snow can't believe that it's based on a true story.

The true crime series dropped in 2022 but viewers are still obsessed.

And audiences of Netflix's documentary Hell Camp: Teen Nightmare have been left sick to their stomach after witnessing the heinous treatment that a group of teenagers endured at the youth getaway in the noughties.

There's another heart-stopping true crime series, however, that has set tongues wagging this week after viewers from around the world claimed it left them unable to fall asleep at night.

Though it isn't a particularly new addition to Netflix - being that it was released in the US back in 2022 - viewers have once again been warned this new year to expect ‘harrowing accounts of harassment, abuse and other crimes’ not just from stalkers but also from their survivors.

The synopsis reads: "Convicted stalkers tell the programme, in their own chilling words, how love turned into a deadly obsession in face first, captivating in-depth interviews."

The hotly-debated series sees convicted stalkers discuss their stomach-turning crimes on camera for the very first time in an attempt to pin-point the moment that their adoration developed into obsession, with fatal consequences.

Another description for the true crime hit reads: "The results of stalking range from the annoying (persistently receiving loads of email or letters) to the intrusive (being secretly watched or followed) to the most severe (kidnapping and/or murder)."

We are, of course, talking about I Am A Stalker, which became one of the most watched crime series in the States after initially being launched on the streaming service in October 2022.

As well as leaving petrified viewers unable to sleep at night, the eight-part documentary has even left some audiences members dreading the idea of dating.

One X user penned: "Y’all, I’m watching #IAmAStalker on Netflix and y’all… I’m totally A-OK with never dating ever again. I’m good."

Another added: "I certainly can’t be the only one who watches #IAmAStalker on #Netflix before bed, and therefore will be too scared to sleep?"

A third commented: "I Am A Stalker on Netflix is NUTS!! The way the stalkers twist the story to make it seem normal is."

While someone else wrote: "I Am A Stalker on Netflix 100/10 highly recommend!"

And a final user warned: "If you want to sleep comfortably tonight, don't watch the @netflix series I Am A Stalker."
