Netflix has released a new four-part documentary that follows the bizarre tales of supposed UFO sightings at locations across the globe.

A synopsis says: “For decades, we’ve relegated alien encounters to the realm of conspiracy, dismissing those who’ve seen the unexplainable.

"Now congressional hearings on UFOs bringing revelations from whistleblowers about clandestine Pentagon programs and major journalistic institutions confirm that... we are not alone.

Encounters, executive produced by Amblin Television, Emmy-winning Boardwalk Pictures and Vice Studios, and directed by Yon Motskin (Generation Hustle), is a landmark four-part series that travels the globe to explore four extraordinary true stories of encounters with otherworldly phenomena.

The documentary is out now.

“Each cinematic and deeply-researched episode tells a single story: strange lights in the sky over small-town Texas; submersible space crafts haunting a coastal Welsh village; an alien encounter in a schoolyard in Zimbabwe; non-human intelligence reportedly interfering with a nuclear power plant in Japan.

"As told from the perspective of firsthand experiencers – in the places where the sightings occurred – and guided by cutting-edge scientists and military personnel, the series goes beyond the science to highlight the profoundly human impact of these encounters on lives, families, and communities.“

It adds: “A timely and timeless cosmic detective story, what will be revealed from this puzzle of seemingly unrelated encounters across different places, times and cultures is a set of uncanny similarities, and one astonishing truth: Extraterrestrial encounters are global, awe-inspiring, and unlike anything we’ve ever imagined.”

In the first episode, the documentary shares new details about a suspected UFO spotted by more than 300 locals high above the desert during 2007-2008 near Stephenville, Texas, with some describing the object at the time as being a mile and four city blocks long.

Hundreds of locals from Stephenville reported seeing the mystery object.

According to Tudum, Netflix’s official fan site, hundreds of residents in and around the town reported seeing the mystery object, with trucking company owner Steve Allen describing blinding lights and a feeling of great peace.

Pat Leatherwood, a bank chairman, saw a ‘flying Dorito’, while Constable Lee Roy Gaitan and his son watched an orb appear in the sky and then suddenly zoom away.

“UFOs, UAPs, nonhuman intelligence, whatever we might call it… I didn’t before, but now I think it exists,” director Yon Motskin told Tudum.

“It’s out there. People are just now starting to accept it as something that’s acceptable to talk about.”
