Netflix fans reckon they've found a '10/10' horror series they say is better than The Walking Dead.

Perhaps you've already streamed this top-rated mini-series which has been viewed for 23 million hours and you're looking for your next binge-watch.

In that case - keep reading, as we've got you covered.

This Netflix series is made up of two seasons and has been hailed as 'edge-of-your-seat viewing' by fans.

The TV series is a spin-off to 2014's Z Nation, but has built up a cult following in its own right.

The synopsis for the series reads: "Set in the Z Nation universe, this series follows a crack team of special forces as it fights for hope in the darkest hours of the zombie apocalypse."

It centers around Rose (Jaime King), who, six weeks into a relentless zombie apocalypse, is plunged into a nightmare when she's torn from her daughter Anna (Zoe Marlett)

Determined to find her, Rose sets out on a dangerous trek across a crumbling North America.

With a ragtag band of survivors by her side, she must navigate blood-soaked roads, outwit the undead and face impossible choices during the darkest summer ever.

The series is called Black Summer, and you can watch its season one trailer below.

The show first released in November 2019, with a second season following in June 2021.

Its first instalment racked up an 85 percent score from Rotten Tomatoes critics, while the second earned a perfect 100 - or '10/10'.

"I found this show far more intense than The Walking Dead and its spinoffs," one fan wrote, hailing Black Summer 'edge-of-your-seat viewing.'

"Must watch apocalyptic TV," a second weighed in, adding: "Second season manages to take this show to a new level."

"I'm so sick of zombies - but watch the first ten minutes and you'll be hooked," a third admitted.

Elsewhere on social media, fans reckoned Black Summer was a more 'realistic' version of The Walking Dead.

"Netflix's Black Summer is how TWD should’ve been," one X user said, as another agreed: "Bottom line, Black Summer puts TWD and all other post-apocalyptic survival shows to shame."

Back in 2023, its creators confirmed sadly a third season wasn't on the cards - despite fans begging for another.

In 2023 John Hyams, the co-creator of the show alongside Karl Schaefer, broke the news via X, formerly Twitter, that Black Summer had been canceled.

A fan of the show tweeted him: "Season 3 of Black Summer or nah?"

    "Sadly, nah," Hyams candidly replied.

He went on to explain to a different Black Summer viewer that it 'certainly wasn’t [his] decision' to axe it and that he would have 'loved to do another'.

Both seasons of Black Summer are streaming now on Netflix.
