All seven season of a gripping political thriller are landing on Netflix this June.

Known for constantly refreshing its lineup, Netflix regularly adds exciting originals and phases out dozens of TV series and films.

But if your perfect week night involves getting cosy on the couch and indulging in the intricacies of a high-octane drama, then you'll appreciate this upcoming addition.

Especially if you enjoy the theatrics of the US government - although, haven't we already had enough of that in real life?

Anyway, the series is from Shonda Rhimes' legendary production company Shondaland - so you know it'll be good.

The company is behind smash hits including Bridgerton, Grey's Anatomy and most recent release, murder-mystery The Residence.

The series in question follows Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington), a former White House Communications Director who starts her own crisis management firm, Olivia Pope & Associates.

It delves into the complex world of political scandals in Washington, D.C., as Olivia and her team work to protect the public images of the nation's elite.

Olivia Pope's character was inspired by real-life crisis manager Judy Smith, who served as a co-executive producer on the series.

We're talking about Scandal, of course, which previously aired on ABC for seven seasons between 2012 to 2018.

And if you already caught it the first time round, then now's the time to mark an ultimate re-watch marathon in your calendars.

All 124 episodes of Scandal are set to join Netflix US on June 17.

If you haven't seen the drama before, then you're in for a treat.

Not only have fans claimed it among their all-time favorite dramas, but it's racked up an impressive Rotten Tomatoes score, too.

All seven seasons averaged a critics score of 93 percent, while fans rated it slightly lower, at 72 percent.

Of the show's debut series, one viewer wrote: "Kept me captivated the entire time. Haven't seen a show this good in a while. Excited to keep watching."

"Scandal is one of my all- time favorite drama television shows," a second agreed. "Everything is fast paced, so you can't miss an episode.

"After watching, you wouldn't want to miss an episode."

A third summed it up as 'entertaining and addictive', while another weighed in: "The entire series is well thought and mapped out - it's very smart."

The discussion continued on social media as fans shared their excitement over Scandal's imminent arrival.

"Yes! Time to rewatch again! Lost count how many times it’s been but I’ll never get tired of this show," one said.

A second typed: "Another show on my way too long list of shows I need to watch lol. I’ve only heard good things!"

Another concluded: "They don't make shows like this anymore."

All seven seasons of Scandal join Netflix US on June 17.
