Reunion picture of Mrs. Doubtfire siblings is leaving fans emotional for one specific reason

Fans are crying at a new reunion picture of the Mrs Doubtfire siblings, and so are we

A reunion picture of the siblings from Mrs Doubtfire has released, and it has all of us in tears.

The 1993 Robin Williams film is a classic – widely considered one of the greatest comedies of the 90s.

The trio of siblings in the film, the Hillard kids, were played by three child actors – and have had varied levels of involvement in Hollywood afterwards.

Mara Wilson, who played Natalie Hillard, has been the most prolific – going on to play another iconic child role when she was cast as Matilda in 1996.

Matthew Lawrence, who played Chris Hillard, has been in occasional films and TV shows since – but hasn’t ever really hit the level of success of Wilson whilst the final sibling, played by Lisa Jakub, hasn’t appeared in any projects since 2000.

Wilson posted a picture of the trio, saying:

“So funny that the same week I went to San Francisco, I got to reunite with my Doubtfire siblings! It’s always a joy to see @lisa.jakub and @matthewlawrence.”

Despite this joyous occasion, many fans were hit with a depressing realisation of the post.

Replying to the post on DiscussingFilm, many fans made the same connection.

One replied saying: “I loved this movie as a kid. Robin should be there ..”

Another replied to say: “Robin Williams :(”

It hit home for many that, whilst the reunion is heartwarming – the missing presence of Robin Williams is keenly felt.

The beloved comedian committed suicide in 2014 at the age of 63.

Mara Wilson said following his death:

“Everybody grieves in their own way. When I heard about Robin's death, I was shocked, confused angry, regretful, and above all, sad.

“All I wanted was to talk to my family and friends and cry.”

In another interview, she said: “Many of my friends are comedians who were inspired by him, but others just loved his movies and comedy and had since their childhoods.

“If you can affect someone when they’re young, you are in their heart forever. It is remarkable how many lives Robin touched, and how many people said, just as I had, that he reminded them of their fathers.”

Director Christopher Columbus has confirmed previously that talks were in the works for a sequel in 2014 prior to his death, but he'd never make one without Williams.

In a 25 year cast reunion, just two years after Williams’ death, Lisa Jakub said:

“One of the most powerful things for me about working with him is that he was very open and honest with me, talking about his issues with addiction and depression.

“That was so powerful to me at 14. I have struggled with anxiety my whole life, and the fact that he was so honest about those things had a major impact on me.

“We needed that 25 years ago, and we still need it now”.

I think that’s my plans sorted for the evening – rewatch Mrs Doubtfire on Disney+ and have a massive cry.
