To say that fans were a little surprised to see singer Lizzo in the Star Wars franchise is a bit of an understatement.

For those not in the know, Lizzo featured in episode six of season three of the popular Disney+ show The Mandalorian.

Lizzo played the The Duchess Of Plazir-15, alongside Jack Black - who played her husband, Captain Bombardier in the episode that released last week.

In the episode, the on-screen couple ended up enlisting Bo-Katan (Katee Sackhoff) and Din (Pedro Pascal) to help with their malfunctioning droid problem.

Despite appearing in just one episode, Lizzo says that her short appearance means that she is now a 'Disney Princess'.

After coming to the revelation, Lizzo took to TikTok to explain to her fans.

Over a video where she can be seen with pink-streaked hair and some rather cool sunglasses, she wrote: "YALL I JUST REALIZED THAT IM ROYALTY IN STAR WARS WHICH IS DISNEY WHICH MAKES ME A DISNEY PRINCESS."

Appearing in such a big series would be an honour for most actors in the industry, and it appears that was no different for Lizzo despite her music background.

Lizzo was ever present in the latest episode of The Mandalorian.

On Instagram recently, the singer revealed how she cried when she was offered the role by Disney.

"When I was a young girl my dad introduced me to Star Wars like a rite of passage," she wrote.

"The trilogy’s are his favorite movies and quickly became mine. When Jon favreau called me and offered the role of The Dutchess I cried all day wishing my dad was still with us cus he’d be so proud. "Star Wars was a dream I never thought was possible— but thanks to Jon, Bryce, and everyone in the galaxy I am now part of the ever-expanding saga of the stars.

"I am in honorable company and forever grateful. This is The Way…. and May the Force be with you."

So how exactly did Lizzo and Jack Black end up on The Mandalorian? Well, series creator Jon Favreau said in a recent interview it was all down to his kids.

"We got Lizzo and Jack Black involved because, honestly, one of the things that we really like about working on the show is we like to bring in people who are fans themselves," he told Entertainment Weekly.

"And Lizzo and Jack Black both were very active on social media. I know Jack from way back, but he was posting and doing Mandalorian things on either Instagram or TikTok.

"And Lizzo was dressing up like Grogu. And my kids were showing me all these videos of how into it Lizzo was."
