Jamie Lee Curtis has signed a contract live on air indicating that she is officially done filming the Halloween franchise.

If you couldn’t already tell by the name of the latest movie in the saga, Halloween Ends, the flick will be the last time the Scream Queens actor will appear in the franchise after filming for more than four decades.

While appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to promote the film, the host jokingly presented the 63-year-old with a written contract so she could publicly cut ties with the series.

The contract read: “I declare this is my last Halloween movie. I, Jamie Lee Curtis, queen of scream, daughter of Janet Leigh and Tony Curtis, mother of Lindsay Lohan.

“Hereby sweareth under penalty of perjury, that Halloween Ends will be the last Halloween movie I will ever appear in.

"For all time, across all sequels, and multiverses. Enforceable by the Police Department of Haddonfield, Illinois. May God have mercy on all of us."

As the actor began to pen her name on the dotted line, the audience proceeded to yell and boo, to which Curtis responded: “I should call my lawyer before I signed anything.”

However, in a cruel twist, the Freaky Friday actor continued to sign her name and marked the end of an era.

The first Halloween film was released in 1978 and instantly made Curtis a household name for her portrayal of Laurie Strode.

Despite having a budget of USD $300,000 (AUD $477,249 or £270,057), the film garnered almost $70 million (AUD $111m or £62m) at the box office and earned rave reviews.

Recently, the actor was immortalised outside the famous TCL Chinese Theatre, with her hands and feet cemented into the ground.

Shortly after the ceremonious event, Curtis reflected on the franchise and the impact Laurie Strode has had on audiences.

Curtis told Variety: “The universal understanding of Laurie Strode is that as this original ‘final girl’ she never gave up, always pushing through no matter what. It is beyond comprehension that that is my legacy.”

She added: “What I’ve gotten from her is way more than she’s gotten from me. Because when I’m gone, her legacy will become mine.

"Now, of course, I have my children, and that is my life, and that’s crucial. But in the films, she is my legacy, and I could not be prouder of any legacy.”
