Jada Pinkett Smith has addressed Will Smith's Oscars slap in the first episode of Red Table Talk since the incident.

If you've somehow missed one of the biggest stories of the year, Smith smacked Chris Rock in the face during this year's Academy Awards after he cracked a 'G.I. Jane 2' joke about the actress.

Smith then warned the comedian to 'keep [his] wife's name out [his] f***ing mouth', before taking to the stage once more to win his first-ever Oscar for King Richard.

Anticipation has surrounded the return of Red Table Talk, particularly given it's likely we'll see a discussion about the events of the Oscars at some point during its run. However, don't expect it any time soon.

The latest episode opens with a silent black screen and a message, which reads: "Considering all that has happened in the last few weeks, the Smith family has been focusing on deep healing.

"Some of the discoveries around our healing will be shared at the table when the time calls."

Will appeared on Red Table Talk in 2018.

The rest of the episode, presumably filmed prior to the Oscars, doesn't acknowledge the slap whatsoever. Amid the initial wave of controversy, Pinkett Smith also posted on Instagram: "This is a season of healing, and I'm here for it."

The Men in Black star has since publicly apologised to Rock, resigned from the Academy and been banned from the Oscars for a whopping 10 years.

In an earlier statement, Smith said: "Violence in all of its forms is poisonous and destructive. My behaviour at last night’s Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable.

"Jokes at my expense are part of the job, but a joke about Jada’s medical condition was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally.

"I would like to publicly apologise to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness.

"I would also like to apologise to the Academy, the producers of the show, all the attendees and everyone watching around the world.

"I would like to apologise to the Williams Family and my King Richard Family. I deeply regret that my behaviour has stained what has been an otherwise gorgeous journey for all of us. I am a work in progress."
