Fast X debuts with just 57% on Rotten Tomatoes but critics say diehard fans will absolutely love it

There have been mixed early reviews for the latest flick in the Fast and Furious franchise.

In good news for those who are absolutely diehard supporters of the film saga, critics reckon Fast X will be right up their alley.

The 10th film in the franchise will welcome Jason Momoa into the family and he looks like the archangel Michael on his way to rescue us all from impending doom.

But, alas, Momoa doesn't take on the Antichrist in this story.

Rather, Momoa's character sets his sights on Diesel's Dom Toretto as their Fast and Furious family 'confront the most lethal opponent they've ever faced', Universal's synopsis states.

"Fueled by revenge, a terrifying threat emerges from the shadows of the past to shatter Dom's world and destroy everything - and everyone - he loves," it says.

So, cue up the dramatic sound effects, a few explosions, and Vin Diesel chanting 'family' on repeat for two hours and 21 minutes, and that's the crux of Fast X.

People who have been lucky enough to see the film have headed to review website like Rotten Tomatoes to give their two cents on what they thought about it.

The critical consensus states: "As irredeemably silly as it is satisfyingly self-aware, Fast X should rev the engines of longtime fans while leaving many newcomers in neutral."

Reviewer Dave Lee said: "By now, the Fast franchise is so self-aware of how big, bombastic, dumb, and brainless it is, it rides it out with a vengeance! Just when you think they can’t top themselves, Fast X over-delivers in every possible way. It’s a blast!"

Tania Lamb from Lola Lambchops added: "Extreme and ridiculous, Fast X will entertain the franchise fans. It's the kind of movie that gets people to the theater to make you forget about reality. And they always make you feel like family. I get the appeal, and I don't."

Stacey Yvonne from Black Girl Nerds gave it 4.5 stars out of five, writing: "In the Fast saga, reality no longer exists; physics is but a concept, gravity an option."

Gregory Wakeman from The National gave the movie a three out of five... thanks to Momoa.

"What really makes Fast X so thoroughly entertaining is the performance of Jason Momoa. The Aquaman star is having an absolute ball playing the dastardly villain Dante," he wrote.
