Fast X critics heap praise on Jason Momoa for his 'god-level' performance in latest instalment of franchise

Even if some critics think it's not that great a movie Jason Momoa is apparently worth a watch

The social media embargo for Fast X has been lifted and critics who've managed to watch the movie before it hits cinemas have given mixed reviews so far - though there's one bit of the film they really seem to like.

The movie releases in cinemas next week but before then you might like to reacquaint yourself with the trailer which you can watch below:

A lot of critics found the film 'utterly ridiculous' but said that Fast X kind of made it work because in a movie about driving cars really fast (and furious) going crazy with the stunts is to be expected.

However, one thing about Fast X that there was really strong praise for was Jason Momoa's performance as the movie's villain, Dante Reyes.

Eric Eisenberg of CinemaBlend said Momoa "plays Dante like F&F's version of The Joker' and said the Aquaman star put up a 'delighful' portrayal of a 'gleeful psychopath."

Dominic Toretto is back for the second-to-last time in the Fast and Furious franchise.

He was described as 'hilarious' by Liam Crowley of Comicbook, and ScreenRant's Joseph Deckelmeier said Momoa brings 'magic' to the movie with a performance that really 'oozes charisma'.

Charisma is exactly what you'd want your main villain to be oozing all over the screen in a movie about car chases and stuff blowing up, because if you don't care about the people behind the wheel it's just a lot of meaningless explosions and shots of cars driving recklessly.

Fast X is apparently not without problems as some of the critics thought there were 'clunky elements' to the movie, so having an actor knock it out of the park as the main baddie is a really useful thing to have going for it.

That's especially true since the movie runs for almost two-and-a-half hours, so you want something entertaining to look at while you spend that time munching popcorn and wondering when Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) will say 'family' next.

Fast X is the first bit of a supposed two-part finale that will bring the mega-money franchise to an end with the grand finale (maybe they could call it Last and Furious or Last Fast) scheduled to drop in 2025.

Critics think Jason Momoa is a lot of fun as the baddie in Fast X.

If you're a huge fan of the franchise you could make some money off your love for it as a company is willing to pay you to watch every single Fast and Furious flick.

This isn't just for your fun alone, they want you to work out how much damage Dom and his crew have caused over the years.

Meanwhile, you might want to stick around through the credits of Fast X as Dwayne Johnson apparently shows up for a cameo right at the end after seemingly making amends following a rather public falling out with Diesel.

Fast X releases in cinemas on 19 May.
