Meteorologist has the best response after viewer criticized her for wearing 'form-fitting' outfits on TV while pregnant

Meteorologist has the best response after viewer criticized her for wearing 'form-fitting' outfits on TV while pregnant

Claire Anderson shared an email she'd received from a disgruntled viewer at home

A pregnant meteorologist wasn't taking any prisoners when she issued a response to an email from an disgruntled viewer about her appearance.

Claire Anderson provides watchers of Fox13 News Seattle updates on the weather, rain or shine, to their many viewers across the US state.

Anderson is currently seven-and-a-half months pregnant her and her husband Garret's, whom she married in 2023, first child, The New York Post reports.

However, she recently took to TikTok to address a particularly scathing email she'd received following one of her shows.

An email from a viewer named Kathy read: "Please, PLEASE, pack away the form-fitting dresses until after the baby. Your mommy bump has gotten so big that your overall appearance distracts from your presentation. Something loose and flowing would be best."

The viewer did add in a compliment, however, by concluding: "You give some of the best presentations on TV, so you deserve the undistracted attention of the viewers."

In her video, Anderson said how much she 'appreciated' the message, before adding: "Remember we are not supposed to comment on what women wear and look like, especially when we're pregnant."

The weather reporter then shared a still of her outfit from that report which supposedly offended Kathy - a cream colored dress.

She wrote in her video's caption: "Reminder: Pregnant women do NOT need to hear your thoughts on what we wear or how we should dress! Thanks for watching Kathy."

And many have flocked to the comments section to praise Anderson's response, with one person writing: "Omg. The nerve of some. Enjoy your pregnancy. You are glowing."

Another said: "When I was pregnant was the first time I really felt comfortable and confident wearing form fitting clothes. I loved showing off the bump. Keep it up - you look great!"

A third responded: "I felt the most confident in my body when I was pregnant. I would wear dresses, form-fitting clothes and even a bikini! You look beautiful & should absolutely wear whatever makes you feel the best!"

In an interview with TODAY.com, Anderson said she'd been 'feeling great' about herself that day until she received the email.

She said: "I come back, and I see that email, and I was like, ‘Oh man. Like, really? Bad stuff."

Anderson has experienced body shaming before and said that her job differs from a news anchor because her whole body is on display: "You want people to be looking at the map, but they look at your body. And unfortunately, that is just part of the game. But it doesn't make it any easier."

Adding that she was initially 'nervous' to announce her pregnancy with her viewers, she continued: "For every 99% of happiness, there’s always going to be that one person that has something to say. And, unfortunately, those are the ones that stay (in your mind.)

"It's 2024, women support women, yet we still have the nastiest emails from women. My message was just like, ‘Guys, remember, we are in a time, in place, in the world, where we don’t need to be commenting on someone’s body unless you think it looks amazing.

"Unless someone asks you how they look, we don’t need to be commenting."
