Communication is always key to keeping people together, but Steve Burns from Blue's Clues has proven that sometimes silence can say a lot more than words.

The popular former children's TV show host got viewers emotional when he took to TikTok this week to share a new video, set against a background very different from the cartoon set fans grew up knowing.

The clip began looking out over empty fields, with the camera apparently positioned on a fence along the perimeter. Leafless trees are visible in the background, and the low sun indicates the video was taken early in the morning.

It was posted on November 6, the day after the US election took place, when voting figures revealed that Donald Trump had beaten Kamala Harris to secure the 270 votes needed to become the next President of the United States.

In the clip, Steve soon appeared at the fence wearing a plaid jacket and a blue t-shirt. He held up two mugs, presumably containing coffee, and positioned one below the camera, as if offering it out to everyone watching.

He then held on to his own mug and began to look around, while taking a deep breath which suggested that he just needed to take a moment to feel the air in his lungs, and get out everything he'd been holding inside.

Steve looked at the camera a couple of times, at one point nodding in apparent acceptance or encouragement, but otherwise staying silent for the length of the one-minute video.

Though the host didn't say a single word, he captivated viewers and prompted people to flood to his comment section.

"Didn’t even say anything. Just cried," one viewer commented, as another wrote: "Thank you for sitting with us."

Steve has previously welcomed his followers into his world by sharing videos asking viewers how they are and 'what's new', before waiting for a response in a similar manner to the way he did while presenting Blue's Clues.

Fans have praised Steve for continuing to to be a point of support for all the fans who grew up watching him, with one person commenting: "The fact that Blues Clues was a safe space for a lot of us when we were young and now you’re creating a safe space for everyone here is incredibly beautiful."

"You are exactly what we need right now," another wrote.

The results of the 2024 election proved divisive for both US residents and people across the globe, with many supportive of Trump's return to the White House, while others have been left concerned over his beliefs on immigration and women's health.
