Alfred Molina got into ‘such trouble’ after accidentally revealing Doc Ock’s return

We won't be getting any spoilers out of Doc Ock this time around.

Alfred Molina has learned his lesson after accidentally revealing a major Spider-Man: No Way Home spoiler.

The film brought together previous live-action web-slingers Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield with villains such as Willem Dafoe as the Green Goblin and Molina as Doctor Octopus.

With fans wondering whether familiar villainous faces would show up in future Spider-Man multiverse stories, Molina has remained tight-lipped after accidentally revealing Doc Ock’s return.

“I can neither confirm nor deny,” he told RadioTimes.com. “That’s the official line. I got into a bit of trouble over the last iteration because I happened to let the cat out of the bag quite innocently.”

And with a fourth Spider-Man film starring Tom Holland officially in the works, the 69-year-old actor explained the accidental spoiler slip-up happened during a discussion with a journalist who asked, ‘How’s the Spider-Man movie going?” to which Molina replied, ‘Oh, great, thanks’.

Molina first played scientist Otto Octavius in the 2004 sequel Spider-Man 2 opposite Maguire’s Peter Parker.

Octavius was meant to be a mentor to the high school teen, but when a lab accident transforms him into a murderous villain with four mechanical arms fused to his back, things go awry.

Harry Osborn (played by James Franco) orders the unhinged Doc Ock to go up against Spider-Man.

Molina’s return to the Spider-Verse was first reported in December 2020 but this news remained unconfirmed until the Three Pines actor revealed it the following April.

At the time he said the news was already ‘all over the internet’ despite the fact he had been asked to keep his return a secret.

“I actually described myself as the worst-kept secret in Hollywood,” he told Variety at the time.

Spider-Man: No Way Home also marked the return of villain Electro played by Jamie Foxx, who appeared in 2014 in The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

Molina hasn't revealed whether he'll be back for more Spider-Man adventures.

Benedict Cumberbatch’s MCU character Dr. Strange also stars in the film, alongside Tom Holland as Peter Parker and Zendaya as MJ.

Speaking of Holland, the 26-year-old actor is known for accidentally revealing spoilers in interviews.

Just like Molina, the British star joked about his struggle to keep a secret during an interview with Good Morning America in 2021 to promote Spider-Man: No Way Home.

“It’s honestly a miracle they let me on a live TV show,” he laughed. “I can’t believe I’m here.”

Holland’s co-stars Zendaya and Jacob Batalon both said the Cherry actor had got better at keeping secrets.

Maybe Tom Holland gave Molina a few tips on keeping spoilers under wraps...
