People defend bride after she's mocked for making her own wedding cake 12 hours before getting married

The TikToker had just hours to complete her wedding cake but she had a trick to save time

Kind-hearted souls rushed to defend a bride who was mocked after deciding to make her own wedding cake just 12 hours before the big day.

You don't need to have had a wedding of your own to know that organizing the event is a big task.

Even more, low-key receptions still require invitations, outfits, food and music, and often couples will spend months making sure everything is in place so that by the time the wedding arrives, all they have to focus on is getting married.

But while a lot of brides spend their final hours of singledom getting their beauty sleep, making sure their nails aren't smudged and making sure the veil is packed and ready to go, TikTok user Laura was busy mixing batter and piping icing.

In a video shared on her platform, Laura, a self-proclaimed 'DIY queen', explained she'd decided to make her own wedding cake using Betty Crocker packet mixes.



Though the pre-made mix saved Laura time when it came to weighing and measuring, she still had to make the cakes close to the wedding day to make sure they were as fresh as could be.

That's how she found herself baking cakes two days before she said 'I do', and icing them just hours before she walked down the aisle.

"It's now midnight the night before our wedding, and I'm icing our cake," she said in the video.

Laura succeeded with her mission and ended up with a multi-tier, rainbow sprinkle-covered creation - certainly an impressive accomplishment for the night before her wedding, but unfortunately her decision prompted some ridicule from viewers.

"This has to be a joke," one comment reads, as another critic posted: "Nah looks more like a bday cake."

"U could’ve at least watched a youtube tutorial bruh," added a third.

After seeing Laura come under fire for her efforts, dozens of TikTok users flooded her post with much more positive comments, with many describing Laura as an inspirational bride.

"I do cakes for a living, I think this is so cute, she had exactly what she wanted and that is 100% what a pro wants for a bride on her day. Good job!," one person commented.

Another friendly user wrote: "I'm sorry why do you people feel that it's ok to critize something she clearly put a lot of time and love into doing? I loved your cake honey!"

Other viewers pointed out that Laura and her fiancé would have saved themselves a lot of money by making their own cake, while one stressed that 'as long as [Laura and her husband] are happy, no one's opinion even matters'.

"I bet it was delish!," they added of the colorful cake.
