A man got the shock of his life after his bird feeder camera alerted him to a human presence, only for the ‘human’ in question to totally freak him out.

When we install CCTV and cameras around our properties, it comes with the unspoken nod that we’re doing it to protect ourselves and belongings.

However, sometimes, we’re setting them up so we can see things we’d never normally get the chance to see - like birds feeding during the night.

Typically, people don’t have time to sit and stare at birds all day, so when the opportunity arises to record them, sometimes you’ve got to take it.

However, sometimes that can mean you also don’t see creepy stuff happening around your home while you sleep.

An example of this was captured and shared to Reddit by a man who wanted others to see what his bird feeder alerted him to.

He posted a screenshot of the camera, which showed the time as being 8:08am, and explained to the subreddit, r/Weird: “My bird feeder app gave me a notification that said ‘Human body detected.’ There's what appears to be a disembodied face to the right.”

In the image, you can immediately see a night vision scope with a bird sitting on its perch at the bird feeder.

UNILAD got in touch with the man, known as casperlakes on the platform, to hear more about his experience and the 'human', and what he said is very interesting.

He explained that the footage was taken 'in the south-east of the Netherlands,' and while he hadn't had any of the human detected alerts on his app prior to the incident, he 'did get a few more afterwards'.

He told us that since it happened, he has had 'no new sightings unfortunately' of the floating face, and as to why he thinks the alert went off, he thinks it was the bird tripping it off, revealing: "I'm sure the bird set the alert off, and the face just happened to be a creepy coincidence."

As for whether it really was some strange ghost face, people have been left terrified, but have come to the conclusion that it's a trick of perception.

One person wrote: “Holy s*** that branch/leaf face is terrifying.”

Another said: “I see it but I think it’s just how the branches and leaves look in that particular spot.”

Someone else explained: “Probably, the location of the face doesn't make sense given the surroundings. Still creepy.”

Yup, it was just leaves (so they say) that seemed to set off the bird feeder, with what appeared to be a floating head having been constructed out of leaves, branches and lighting.

To add to your vocabulary, I’ve added in this comment which puts seeing the ‘face’ down to the phenomenon (Pareidolia) of the human mind constantly trying to see faces in objects and the scenery: “Paradolia mixed with grainy lighting and over exposure. Nothing unusual here. With that being said, if I got that notification alone in the night I would p*** myself.”

But there are other questions here that need to be answered.

A user queried: “Are we not questioning WHY THE F*** does the bird feeder app even HAVE a notification for THAT SPECIFIC THING?????”

Someone tell us.
