Anonymous appears to take credit for 'hacking' Tucker Carlson's Twitter account

Anonymous appears to take credit for 'hacking' Tucker Carlson's Twitter account, but is it all just one big trick?

An anonymous group has appeared to take credit for hacking Tucker Carlson's Twitter account after his bio changed on the social media platform - but was his account actually hacked?

Twitter users were left rather surprised by the Fox News' presenter's bio overnight, as he described himself as a person of color and a climate activist who identifies as non-binary.

The new bio also saw Carlson described as a 'visionary tech founder' and a CNBC market analyst.

It also mentioned being an advisor to Ukraine president Volodymyr Zelensky, who he has often criticized on his show and has certainly been pro-Russia in the war.

"Non-binary climate change activist of color. Visionary tech founder. CNBC market analyst. Informal Zelensky advisor," the bizarre new bio read.

The bio also concluded with two transgender pride flags emojis on it.

The supposed hacking was brought to many people's attention by the hacking and activist group Anonymous.

On Twitter, they wrote: "Tucker Carlson you’ve been #hacked," alongside a picture of his new profile.

But while the Anonymous group may have taken credit for the hacking, a spokesperson for Fox News has told The Daily Beast that the claim his account had been hacked was 'false, the account has not been hacked'.

Brian Krassenstein was one of those who said that he thought the controversial TV presenter had been hacked.

On Twitter, he wrote: "BREAKING: Tucker Carlson was just HACKED!

"The hacker group Anonymous has apparently taken credit for hacking Tucker Carlson’s Twitter account.

"I’m against hacking of course, but if I was to let one slide this would be it!"

However, Damin Toell was having none of the hacking speculation, accompanying a picture of a bio where Carlson put his pronouns down as 'she/hers', he wrote: "Tucker Carlson getting a lot of free engagement on his Twitter account tonight, but he wasn’t hacked.

"This is what his bio was a month ago. Everyone has just taken the bait."

If you head over to Carlson's Twitter profile right now, you'll notice that his bio has changed to that one mentioned by Toell.

It reads: "Emmy-award-winning broadcast journalist, graduate of Harvard College & Yale Law School. Frequent visitor to the Aspen Inst. Fully vaccinated. She/Hers."

The bio also concluded with the Ukrainian flag, and he has also posted to his Twitter account in recent hours, suggesting that he may have not been hacked after all.
