Sydney Sweeney speaks out as she goes fully nude for X-rated sports betting ad

Sydney Sweeney certainly isn't one for avoiding a bit of controversy, and her latest ad is no different.

The Euphoria star has gone completely nude in a raunchy advertisement for Novig, a sports trading app, covering up her private parts with various sports equipment in the name of 'just sports'.

"You think you know sports? Prove it," she asks in the ad, before telling viewers: "You can trade this sport," and "you can't trade this sport, I just look good here."

While some have criticised the move, the actor has responded by saying the ad was a 'very simple and playful idea' to 'really bring the concept of just sports to life.'

Speaking to Complex, Sweeney added: "I grew up loving sports. I played sports growing up. I was on a soccer team, I was on a softball team, I was on a snow ski team. I learned how to slalom ski when I was little, and I did MMA. So sports have been a really big part of my life, and I love watching hockey and boxing, especially after playing Christie Martin. I have a really huge appreciation for every single fighter.

"My parents always told me to fall in love with as many things as possible, so they really wanted me to try absolutely everything. I think that the idea and concept of acting was my ability and my choice to be able to not have to pick being one thing for the rest of my life.

"I get to play all these different characters. I get to learn so much about other people and the world. I get to travel. I get to meet interesting and smart, intelligent, creative people, and it’s broadened my world so much more than if I would’ve just chosen one thing."

However, the CEO of Novig has revealed that there's actually more meaning behind the ad, after Sweeney approached the platform in search of an equity partnership.

According to Jacob Fortinsky, the 28-year-old told him she was 'uncomfortable' with other betting platforms having markets on 'what color underwear' she was going to wear.

"There's something clean about just sports," she told him.

Fortinsky told Front Office Sports: "I think Sydney is great at captivating audiences and being the center of attention. In some sense, this forces us into the national discourse."
