Rihanna becomes most followed woman on Twitter

Rihanna fans are flocking to social media in celebration as she becomes the most followed woman on Twitter.

Selena Gomez may be the Queen of Instagram - having taken the title back in March after gaining over 10 million followers after Kylie Jenner appeared to mock her on social media - but now there's another celeb who has taken over on Twitter.

Rihanna is already a R&B pop star and businesswoman / founder of Fenty beauty and the Savage x Fenty fashion brand, but the 35-year-old has now added yet another string to her bow.

But how many followers does the new Queen of Twitter actually have?

According to Social Blade, the 'Rude Boy' singer is the fourth most followed Twitter account in the world.

Unsurprisingly, Elon Musk - who became the owner of the social media platform in October, 2022 - sits at the top of the leaderboard with 134,341,896 followers, at the time of writing.

Following in at second place is former US President Barack Obama (132,941,739 followers), with Justin Bieber coming in at a close third (113,171,252 followers).

Fourth in the world - and now the most followed woman - on the platform is Rihanna with a whopping 108,276,354 followers.

Fans of the Super Bowl halftime show performer have flocked to Twitter in celebration of her achievement, with one user saying: "AS SHE SHOULD. QUEEN @RIHANNA."

"OH RIHGOD," another commented, while a third added: "AN ICON."

However, another impatient fan wrote: "Ok but when is the new album dropping?"

With Rihanna having delivered a jaw-dropping performance at the Super Bowl halftime show earlier this year, bringing in five million more viewers than the actual game did, it's hardly a surprise she's taken over from fellow pop star Katy Perry in the race to be the most followed woman on Twitter.

Not only did fans praise the 'Love the Way You Lie' singer for not bringing out any guests during her performance, but they were also overjoyed by her confirmation of her second pregnancy after the show.

And as for those who are almost as followed as RiRi - the sixth most followed Twitter user is Cristiano Ronaldo, followed by Taylor Swift, Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi and then Donald Trump.

Just about making the top ten is singer Ariana Grande, with Lady Gaga, YouTube, Ellen DeGeneres, Kim Kardashian and NASA following within in the top 15.

Selena Gomez may be the Queen of Instagram, but she's only the 16th most followed person on Twitter, with the official Twitter page following in position 17.
