Will Arnett has been criticized online after sharing a controversial opinion on people who have tattoos.
Yes, it turns out that even in 2026, tattoos are still a topic that can cause controversy, despite now being extremely popular.
Getting a tattoo could be for a deeply personal event, such as memorializing a loved one or recovering from an illness. On the other hand, many people also want to get one, or a few, just because it looks cool.
While in the past, it might have been frowned upon in more formal settings such as the workplace, many places now have a far more relaxed attitude towards tattoos.

However, this is far from universal; for example, in Japan, tattoos still have negative cultural connotations, and Judaism prohibits getting tattoos.
But it wasn't any of this that Bojack Horseman star Will Arnett took issue with on podcast The Romesh Ranganathan Show – it was less the tattoos, and more the people who get them.

The actor shared that he thinks that if someone has a lot of tattoos, then this means that they are not a very interesting person.
“There’s a proportionate sort of relationship between, how many tattoos you have and how little personality you have," he told the podcast. "And I find that a lot of people who have a ton of tattoos often are super f***ing boring. Like truly boring people.”
And well, needless to say people had a lot of opinions on Arnett's thoughts about tattoos, especially given how popular they are now.
The clip was shared to social media, where people piled into the comments criticizing Arnett's views on the topic.
One wrote: "Just say you hate fun and be done with it, Will", while another responded: "Tattoo discourse in 2026 is wild. They’re so mainstream and normalised now (compared to a few decades ago), I find it insane anyone even cares to mention them anymore."

Another thought that this wasn't really that new or fresh of a take, as people have criticized tattoos for years, writing: "Is it controversial? People have been s***ting on those who get tattoos for a long, long time. This is just another version of the same old take, really."
But one person took a more humorous approach to proving the actor wrong, quipping: "Not sure that's correct. I have zero tattoos and I am very boring."
Leaning into the self-effacement, another person even joked: "I'm gonna get a tattoo of Will Arnett and a speech bubble saying this quote."
