Controversy and Taylor Swift don't really go together, so to hear herself being booed by a good portion of the 75,000-strong crowd appeared to confuse the singer.

Celebrities have now rallied behind the 35-year-old, who was jeered when the camera panned to her - and was subsequently shown on the big screen in the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The 'Shake It Off' songstress is in town as she cheers on boyfriend Travis Kelce, whose team, the Kansas City Chiefs, take on the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl.

Now, former tennis star Serena Williams, who retired in 2022, has taken to Twitter to get behind Swift.

She wrote: "I love you @taylorswift13 dont listen to those booo!!"

Hundreds of people have already commented on the post, which has been seen more than 700,000 times (at the time of writing).

One fan said: "Eagles fans are booing her. She’s originally from Philly area but obviously rooting for Travis and chiefs."

Another user commented: "The booos are from eagles fans aka the opposite team she supports this is normal."

While a third penned: "Grown a** men booing taylor swift seriously get a grip."

However, Swift was bemused by the abuse she received as she could be seen laughing it off but also wondering what she had done wrong.

She appeared to say: "What is going on?"

While Swift was booed by the Caesars Superdome crowd, President Donald Trump was not.

In fact, it seems he was loudly cheered as he made history as the first sitting US president to attend the Super Bowl.

Trump and Swift have a little history themselves, as the 78-year-old took to his social media platform Truth Social during his presidential campaign last year.

He simply wrote: "I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!"

His post came after the singer urged her fans to use their vote any way they would like, while also informing them she would be voting for Democrat presidential candidate Kamala Harris.

Swift's decision to let her fans know her political swaying came after Trump's campaign team were duped when they posted a fake AI-generated photo of her saying she was voting for the Republican.

Meanwhile, earlier today her boyfriend Kelce donned an eccentric outfit - an Amiri suit from its new fall/winter range, which consisted of a rouge jacket and pants, alongside a matching shirt, some tinted sunglasses, a black duffle bag and some chunky white and black shoes.

Many claimed Swift may have had an input in his pre-game fit.
