When it comes to celebrity couples and families, social media users don’t shy away from their thoughts on not only the adults but sometimes the parenting of the children, too.
However, there was a particular comment that Sophie Turner perhaps thought went a step too far, and so she replied.
Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas ended their five-year marriage in September 2024 via divorce, claiming that their marriage was 'irretrievably broken'. The couple share two daughters, Willa, aged 4 and Dephanie, aged 2.
Last week, 29-year-old Turner posted an Instagram post sharing her experience at an Oasis concert at London’s Wembley Stadium, captioning the photo: “Bucket hats & beers. That’ll do me. Thank you @levis."

However, while the photo was meant to be a celebratory moment of the actress enjoying the concert with friends, not everyone saw it that way.
One comment under the post cruelly read: "Lmfao I think she has forgotten that she has two kids."
Jonas and Turner were married from 2019 to 2023. It was Jonas who filed for divorce in September 2023, which unfortunately led to a long and messy custody battle. Part of the reasoning was due to the different living locations of the parents.

Turner is an England native and wanted to travel with her kids, but as Jonas is from New Jersey, he wanted the kids to be closer to him. However, they finally agreed to have shared custody of their two daughters, meaning the kids can travel to and from the two countries on an equal basis.
The ex-couple announced this in a statement via Us Weekly in October 2023 that read: “After a productive and successful mediation, we have agreed that the children will spend time equally in loving homes in both the U.S. and the UK.”
With that in mind, Turner was quick to defend herself against the recent Instagram comment, as she replied: “Ah, I’m so sorry, sometimes, I forget some people can’t think for themselves.”
She continued: “So, get this … There’s this crazy thing called shared custody. Maybe, just maybe, they were with their dad that day.”

Since the couple’s split, Turner has been open about the backlash she has received as a single parent. Turner told The Times of London in September 2024: “There’s so much shame that comes with motherhood.”
She continued: “You go to work, you’re shamed. If you don’t go to work, you’re shamed.”

However, she has also spoken about the support she has received and has described herself as very 'fortunate' to have 'a lot of help around' her to raise her daughters.
“[It] is not the case for a lot of people,” she said. “I applaud all single mothers doing it alone”, she added in a social media message.
