Salma Hayek has admitted to feeling some 'pressure' to make money despite being married to billionaire François-Henri Pinault.

She may have a very wealthy husband, but Hayek has proudly built her own path, with an impressive acting career. She's become best known for her the chacters she played in Desperado and From Dusk till Dawn.

After those roles in the 1990s, Hayek admitted to struggling to find the right role, until Adam Sandler reportedly turned up to save her career.

Prior to featuring in 2010's Grownups, Hayek had always been deemed ‘too sexy’ for comedy roles by executives.

“I was typecast for a long time,” she explained to British GQ, adding: “My entire life I wanted to do comedy and people wouldn’t give me comedies.”

But with Grownups, Hayek finally landed her dream part.

“I couldn’t land a role until I met Adam Sandler, who put me in a comedy [2010’s Grown Ups], but I was in my forties!”, she added to British GQ.

"They said, ‘You’re sexy, so you’re not allowed to have a sense of humour’ ... Not only are you not allowed to be smart, but you were not allowed to be funny in the 90s.”

Hayek's impressive career has earned her an estimated net worth of $200 million, and on top of that, she's married to a French billionaire.

Despite this, Hayek admitted in a recent interview how she feels 'pressure' to make money.

Speaking in a recent interview with The Wall Street Journal, Hayek explained how she keeps her finances separate from Pinault, stating she is very much financially independent.

As such, the actor is wanting to increase her net worth.

She told The Wall Street Journal: "I support a lot of the aspects of my life and myself. I have the pressure to make a certain amount of money, and I like it. And now, I decided, I want to make more."

Speaking of what it was like joining the Pinault family, Hayek added: "To me, the excitement about having a lot of money was that I didn’t have to think about money, and it turned out all people wanted to talk to me about was money.

"Strangers coming to me that aren’t even friends, but they think we should be friends because they’re rich, too."

To increase her net worth, Hayek told The Wall Street Journal how she is pursuing business ideas, though she didn't reveal to the outlet what her plans are.
