Ryan Reynolds has been criticised by some online after a comment to a child at an event last year resurfaced.
The Deadpool star was interviewed by a child at the Toronto International Film Festival in September last year, shortly after news broke that the actor and his wife Blake Lively were embroiled in a legal battle with Justin Baldoni.
Despite that, Reynolds was still in the public eye promoting his John Candy documentary, completing many interviews in the process.
And a CTV interview saw the actor speaking to a child, an interaction that continues to be a huge talking point online to this day.

"Hi, what's your question for me buddy?" Reynolds asked, to which the child replied: "Hi Ryan, nice to meet you." Reynolds quickly interjected by stating: "Nice to meet you too, let's skip to the question."
"Why is there so much chipotle mayo on your Tim Horton breakfast?" the kid then asked, which lead to the 49-year-old quipping: "You know what, I wish I had some control over that. I can send a strongly-worded letter to the chef. Consider it done, young man."

Reynolds then added: "What's your name? Liam? I'll make it downright vicious, but I'll say it's from you though."
The actor then walked off as an awkward crowd watched on.
Many people have taken to X in recent days after the video was reshared on the social media platform.
"He really is nasty and vicious," one person penned on X.
Meanwhile, a second added: "I’ve noticed now that his humor is mean girl bullying disguised as comedy through sarcastic tone. Every time."

On the other hand, many were quick to defend Reynolds as one social media user wrote: "This is the most delusional post and thread I’ve read in a really long while. The forced hate is hilarious. Bots everywhere."
While another quipped: "I’m so confused lmaoo I was trying to figure out what he did wrong like maybe I was missing an underlying subliminal message."
A source close to Reynolds told the Daily Mail at the time that staff on the red carpet were closing the catwalk and were rushing people indoors, hence the quick and awkward interaction.
"They said Ryan couldn’t stop for anymore interviews and he did in fact stop the kid reporter on his own. He was in no way being rude," the insider said.
"There was also a lot of other reporters trying to get a question which is why he bent down to the kid to have him ask the question."
UNILAD has reached out to Reynolds' representatives for comment.
