Rob Reiner’s response to Charlie Kirk’s murder resurfaces in contrast to Trump’s ‘disgusting’ comments on director’s death

Rob Reiner's reaction to the assassination of Charlie Kirk has resurfaced as celebrities point out the contrast between the beloved director and President Donald Trump.

The 78-year-old emeritus actor and director was discovered dead in his LA home on Sunday (December 14), alongside his 68-year-old wife Michele.

Their 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, has since been arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder, while a medical examiner's report determined that the couple died as a result of 'multiple sharp force injuries'.

Following the director's death, Trump took to Truth Social to post a 'tribute' to Reiner, in which he tore into him, describing him as 'a tortured and struggling, but once very talented movie director and comedy star'.

He went on to claim that his death was as a result of the 'anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, sometimes referred to as TDS'.

After his words were condemned by Hollywood, the public, and even fellow Republican, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, he added to reporters in the White House that Reiner was 'very bad for our country'.

Piers Morgan has since spoken out blasting the president for his comments, while sharing a clip on X of Reiner commenting on Kirk's death earlier this year.

He captioned the post: "As President Trump trashes Rob Reiner following his murder, a reminder of how Reiner responded on my show to the murder of Charlie Kirk."

The video featured Reiner on Piers Morgan Uncensored back in September. When he was asked about the Conservative activist's assassination, he described it as an 'absolute horror' before adding that he had 'unfortunately [seen] the video'.

The 31-year-old co-founder of Turning Point USA - a conservative student organization - was shot in the neck while speaking to a crowd at Utah Valley University, in Orem, on Wednesday (September 10).

Reiner continued: "It's beyond belief what happened to him, that should never happen to anybody. I don't care what your political beliefs are. That's not acceptable. That's not a solution to solving problems."

Reiner was clearly empathetic of his death, but Trump was not so kind.

If you need reminding what the president of the United States said the morning after an American film director was brutally killed alongside his wife... here it is: "A very sad thing happened last night in Hollywood.

"Rob Reiner, a tortured and struggling, but once very talented movie director and comedy star, has passed away, together with his wife, Michele, reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, sometimes referred to as TDS.

“He was known to have driven people CRAZY by his raging obsession of President Donald J. Trump, with his obvious paranoia reaching new heights as the Trump Administration surpassed all goals and expectations of greatness, and with the Golden Age of America upon us, perhaps like never before. May Rob and Michele rest in peace!"
