Rita Ora and Taika Waititi share never-before-seen photos from their wedding on their first anniversary

The Poison singer and Marvel director have celebrated tying the knot last year by releasing new photographs from their intimate ceremony.

Marvel director Taika Waititi and his wife Rita Ora have shared unseen photographs from their wedding day to celebrate their one-year anniversary.

Last August, Marvel Cinematic Universe director Taika Waititi, 47, said ‘I do’ to Rita Ora, 32, in Los Angeles, California.

Despite getting married last summer, it wasn’t until earlier this year that the pair confirmed that they had officially tied the knot. However, the lack of clarity did not stop fans from speculating and fabricating possible details.

Some reported that the wedding had taken place in London, while others claimed France. Many believed the ceremony was a lavish affair chock-a-block with celebrity faces.

However, the pair have set the story straight in a recent interview with Vogue - saying that it’s been ‘quite entertaining’ to watch the rumour mill go into overdrive.

“It’s actually been quite entertaining for us to see the different stories people made up and all while getting to keep it to ourselves,” admitted Ora.

“And I love that we now get to share what really happened — and to do it on our one-year anniversary no less!”

Putting speculation to bed, the Thor actor himself told the publication that their wedding day ‘wasn’t in London or France’.

“It was in LA with a small group of friends,” he said, “At our home,” Ora clarified.

“There were about eight people there — just close friends and family, and parents on Zoom. It was really us and my sister Elena,” the 47-year-old added.

In the interview, Waititi also confirmed that his daughters Te Kainga o te Hinekahu, 11, and Matewa Kiritapu, seven, whom she shares with his ex-wife Chelsea Winstanley, were also in attendance.

"My daughters were there, and they made everything really fun and easy: I think just because we didn't have the pressure of having caterers and all of these things, you know, people turning up late, and all of the different moving parts,” he explained.

Ora also said that their wedding day was ‘really peaceful’ and was ‘almost like another day’.

It’s reported that the newlyweds first met at a barbecue in 2018, however, dating rumours didn’t start until 2021 when the ‘You For Me’ singer posted a selfie of the pair together on Instagram.

A month later, the infamous photograph of Ora, Waititi, and Marvel actor Tessa Thompson went viral, which further fuelled the fire.

Speaking about the photographs to the Sydney Morning Herald, the New Zealander said: “I was doing nothing wrong.

“I think in the whole world of the internet, everything goes away pretty quick. And also, ‘is it that big a deal? No, not really. I was doing nothing wrong. It’s fine.”

Throughout the rest of 2021, the pair made numerous red carpet appearances together including The Suicide Squad premiere in LA, the Met Gala, and the MTV Europe Music Awards.

In January 2023, Ora took to the Heart Radio Breakfast show to confirm that she and Waititi had tied the knot.

When asked if she was married, the Poison singer said: “Yes. Here we are. They say everything happens for a reason. I am officially off the market, people!”
