Margot Robbie revealed the worst gift she ever got from a fellow actor was a book telling her to ‘eat less’.
The Wuthering Heights actress explained the moment it was handed to her in an interview with Complex alongside Charli XCX, who is releasing the movie’s soundtrack album.
The 35-year-old said that the book was meant to ‘change her body’, as she said: “Very, very early in my career, an actor I worked with, a male actor, gave me a book called ‘Why French Women Don’t Get Fat.’”
She explained: “It was essentially a book telling you to eat less.”

The book, which was written by Mireille Guiliano in 2007, brought up a visceral reaction out of her, as she revealed: “I was like, ‘Whoa, f*** you, dude.’”
However, there’s no point in trying to find out who the mystery man is, as Robbie claims she would have ‘no idea where he would even be now’.
She then told Charli: “He essentially gave me a book to let me know that I should lose weight.
“I was like, ‘Wow.’”
Considering the date of the book release, Robbie would have been starring in the famous evening Australian soap opera, Neighbours, which she featured on from 2008 until 2011.
From then, she branched out to the US audience in the ABC show, Pan Am, and broke out in a major way when she appeared with Leonardo DiCaprio in Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street two years later.

Online, people were saddened by the news Robbie revealed, with one Redditor writing: “I mean sadly that book was reflective of the industry at large because look how different she is now.”
Another said: “I remember this book. Sadly, I thought it would be useful and help me become a more elegant woman. I got to the part about how men love to dote on petite women and that if you were tall and large-framed, well— thats bad luck and life would just be harder. I did not read any more of the book. Still haunts me as one of the most toxic messages I’ve ever received.”
Someone else wrote: “I need to find out who she is talking about. This is the real tea.”
Guiliano’s book states that ‘French women don’t get fat’ because they ‘eat as they like and don’t get fat’ via adopting a lifestyle of moderation.
