Rapper Ice Spice has been slammed by social media users, accusing her of dressing ‘inappropriately’ at a children’s movie premiere.
The 25-year-old attended an early screening of The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants in New York City on Wednesday (December 17), but instead of the animated nostalgia taking center stage, attention shifted to her outfit
Ice Spice arrived wearing a sheer white Blumarine dress that revealed matching underwear underneath - a look some people felt missed the mark for a family-focused event.
Almost immediately, Instagram comment sections lit up with criticism.

“Are we just going to ignore the ‘kids’ premiere,” one user wrote, while another asked bluntly: “Where did she think she was going?”
Someone else commented: “So inappropriate to wear to a kids movie event.”

While there's no denying the musician looked fire in her outfit and some fans shared their praise, one of the most popular comments was: “She took the words ‘bikini bottom’ real serious.”
But the criticism didn’t stop there, as some questioned how the look made it past the star's inner circle.
One user penned: “Is she not supposed to have a whole team to advise her against this?”
Another simply said: “Actually outrageous.”
Ice Spice voices a minor character in the upcoming film and also contributed an original song, called 'Big Guy', to the soundtrack - something that would have been dreamlike for her, having previously spoken openly about being a longtime SpongeBob fan, and even naming 'Bikini Bottom' as a track on her 2023 debut album.
The film, the fourth release in the SpongeBob franchise, is in US theaters today (December 19), and follows SpongeBob on a deep-sea adventure to prove himself as a 'big guy' to Mr Krabs.
Directed by Derek Drymon, it also stars the likes of Tom Kenny, Clancy Brown, Rodger Bumpass, Bill Fagerbakke and Carolyn Lawrence.
During a recent appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, the artist opened up about creating the song for The SpongeBob Movie.
“This was probably the hundredth draft, probably, that finally made it out—that you guys are hearing,” she said. “The whole premise of the film is about SpongeBob becoming, like, a ‘big guy’ and so I had to really incorporate that phrase throughout the song. It all turned out to really work out in the end and I'm just happy that it took this many drafts because it's my favorite one.”
While Ice Spice received a lot of heat for her outfit choice at the premiere, hopefully SpongeBob fans can enjoy her performance and soundtrack in the movie.
