Gwyneth Paltrow calls her ski accident trial 'weird', admitting she's still trying to 'process' it

In 2016, the actor. was involved in an incident at Deer Valley resort with retired optometrist Terry Sanderson.

Gwyneth Paltrow has spoken out about the bizarre ski accident trial making headlines, calling it ‘pretty weird’.

The actor recently sat down with The New York Times to talk about all things Goop, politics and of course, that infamous ski trial.

The 54 year old said that after more than six months of the jury’s verdict, she’s still trying to ‘process’ it all.

“I was just getting dressed and going to a pretty intense experience every day,” Paltrow told the outlet.

“And the sartorial outcome was so weird to me. That whole thing was pretty weird. I don’t know that I’ve even processed it.”

The Shakespeare in Love actor went on to say that she felt like it was something she ‘survived’.

“Sometimes in my life it takes me a long time to look back and process something and understand something,” she continued.

In 2016, Paltrow was involved in an incident with retired optometrist Terry Sanderson at Deer Valley resort.

He alleged the actor crashed into him and caused him significant injuries.

As a result, earlier this year in March, the two parties battled it out in court, with Sanderson claiming Paltrow's 'reckless' skiing landed him with four broken ribs and brain damage.

He was seeking damages of $30,000 (AUD $46,636) after he dropped ​​a previous claim for $3.1 million (AUD $4.8m).

"Ms Paltrow skis down to the right, she turns her head up to look at her children,” Sanderson's lawyer Lawrence Buhler told the jury.

"As she turns her head back down she screams and skis into the back of Terry Sanderson… they hit the ground hard and Ms Paltrow bounces off Terry."

Mr Buhler added that it caused the retiree’s body to ‘smash to the ground’.

While Paltrow's representative, Stephen Owens, claimed that the actor was 'enjoying' her time on the mountain when suddenly two skis appeared between her skis as Sanderson appeared behind her.

“She doesn’t know what’s going on… she’s moving forward, they begin falling to the right and she’s feeling freaked out,” he continued.

Owens claimed that Paltrow tried to pull away from Sanderson, which caused them to fall, but Sanderson later said 'words to the effect of 'I didn't see you."'

The trial lasted eight days, with Paltrow winning and being awarded her requested $1 (AUD $1.5) in damages.
