Ethan Suplee has struggled with his weight for most of his life, but he's now revealed how he was able to have long-lasingt success after losing 300lbs.
Actor Ethan Suplee has been a mainstay in film and television for well over two decades, but while you might not necessarily know his name, you will most certainly recognize his face.
The star has been open about his difficulties losing weight, and has recently spoken out about the key lifestyle changes he has had to make over the years. Speaking to the Post, the 49-year-old explained that at his heaviest, he weighed 536 lbs, and even had to order a special scale, as his doctor’s ones only went up to 350 lbs.
He also shared that he had long been in denial about just how much weight he had been putting on, telling himself that he was simply around 360 lbs.

The actor was also in and out of rehab for a time, but soon realized he had reached his breaking point and decided to do something about it. Much of it was tied to dating his now-wife, and realizing that sobriety wasn’t his only problem.
He said: “There were a lot of things in life she wanted to do that I was like, just physically incapable of doing, like going to the beach or on a hike. I have to also confront my weight, and I have more problems to fix.”
By 2005, after trial and error food choices, he landed on a keto diet and consistent trainer-led workouts, and dropped an impressive 250 pounds. However, he still had issues with food and mental health issues that stopped him from fully accepting himself, despite the weight loss.
He said: “Once I’d lost some weight, I didn’t feel any better about myself. I would get on the scale and see I’ve lost 100 pounds.
“And then the next day I’d still feel shitty… and my sense of shame would come back and my low self-confidence.”

Setting more impressive physical and health goals also didn’t help in the long term.
He eventually had to address his relationship with food head on, and couldn’t apply the same abstinence method to food as he could with drugs and alcohol.
He shared: “I had to get rid of the idea that food was the culprit and work more heavily on concentrating or thinking about what behaviors of mine were contributing to this condition.
“I had to think about the condition as a chronic condition versus an acute condition, because all of these diets were acute solutions.
“When I got super dialed into that, I was finally able to have some success with dieting where I would lose weight and I was able to maintain it.”
Suplee is well aware that his health journey isn’t complete, but he is in a better place than he previously was. He added that like sobriety, it will take effort forever, but it gets easier with time as well.
