Cynthia Erivo rushed to protect Ariana Grande after a fan rushed over to grab her.

In footage taken at the Wicked: For Good premiere, a fan rushed onto the golden carpet to meet Grande and almost pulled her over as he put his arm around her.

Erivo wasted no time in stepping in to protect her friend and pushed the man off her.

Elsewhere Michelle Yeoh clutched on to Grande's hand to stop the 32-year-old from being pushed over.

The crowd were audibly shocked by the man's behaviour, as was Grande herself.

After Erivo pushed the crazed fan off Grande security rushed in to drag him away from the celebrities and off the carpet.

See the footage here:

Fans have since applauded Erivo for her quick response to the incident. "Cynthia having faster reflexes than the security," one person penned on Twitter.

Echoing similar sentiments, somebody else said: "Cynthia having faster reflexes than multiple grown male security…."

"Cynthia is Ariana’s protector to DEATH," a different person penned.

Another said the man's actions were 'unacceptable', writing: "How hard is it for y'all to act like decent humans bc this behaviour is unacceptable."

"Cynthia we love you for this," they added.
