It turns out we've long been saying Demi Moore's name wrong.

It's typically Irish stars like Saoirse Ronan, Barry Keoghan, and Bridgerton's Nicola Coughlan that have to teach people how to pronounce their unique monikers, but there's more straight forward names too.

For example, names can be somewhat lost in translation. James Bond star Daniel Craig recently called out Stephen Colbert on his show as American's typically pronounce Craig as 'Creg'.

But, with Craig being British, he prefers to have to said the British way - which is a totally fair request, in my books.

Now, a previous interview of Demi Moore's has been doing the rounds online where she chatted to Jimmy Fallon about her name.

Moore has been the talk of the town of late after bagging her first Golden Globe earlier this month.

The actor, 62, has been in the industry for decades and, while she's had nominations, it wasn't until she starred in The Substance that she finally got her hands on the prestigious accolade.

Moore gave an extremely emotional acceptance speech on the star-studded night, where she described herself as 'so humbled and so grateful'.

She also spoke about having previously been labeled a 'popcorn actress' and that she was made to feel that she'd never be worthy of a Golden Globe, but when she received the script for The Substance, the universe told her that she wasn't done with acting yet.

Rewinding back to her chat with Fallon in 2017, Moore discussed her name and compared herself to Demi Lovato.

See their conversation here:

While their first names are written and spelt the same way, apparently they're pronounced differently.

"Our families say our names the same, but we each individually pronounce it differently," the Ghost star said of her and Lovato.

As to why they say it differently, Moore said the change 'works better with our last names'.

Moore went on to explain: "Like, 'Deh-mee Lovato' sounds really good, and 'Duh-mee' Moore sounds really good."

In light of the clip doing the rounds online again, people have been sharing their thoughts on the matter on Twitter.

One person wrote: "Love how she’s taking charge of her own name, makes it even more iconic!"

"Good to know! Getting names right always matters," added a second.

Others, however, expressed their shock.

Someone pondered about Lovato and Moore's monikers, writing: "Who else unknowingly pronounced both names exactly the same?"

Another added: "Just realized I pronounce Demi Lovato and Demi Moore differently even though they have the same first name."
