Chris Hemsworth gave an insight into how he feels about the possibility of developing Alzheimer’s in a new documentary.
Chris Hemsworth has said opened up about his health in a new documentary that reflects on his own father’s current health struggles.
The newly released documentary, Chris Hemsworth: A Road Trip to Remember, follows Chris as he embarks on an Australian motorbike road trip with his father, Craig Hemsworth.
Craig has early-stage Alzheimer’s and the road trip was designed to hopefully strengthening his memory, visiting places he has been before.

Dr. Suraj Samtani spoke in the documentary and revealed how this could prove to be effective, saying: “We know that revisiting past experiences by talking to someone about it, even using objects from the past or places from the past is a great way to boost our cognition.”

During the doc, which released on November 23 2025, Hemsworth gave his own insights into the possibility of developing Alzheimers, like his father.
He said: “This has become a very prominent conversation in my world, because I also have two copies of the gene that puts me in a higher-risk category for Alzheimer's.

“But it's not a problem at this point, and it may never be. So I'm far more focused on my dad right now."
Chris initially told the world a few years ago that he's genetically predisposed to Alzheimer’s disease, despite not yet currently showing signs of it.
Hemsworth made the discovery back in 2022 as party of his Discovery+ series Limitless where he looked into ways he can live better for longer.
His genetic makeup was found to have two copies of the gene APOE4 - one from his mother, the other from his father- which studies have linked to an increased risk of Alzheimer’s disease.

Not long after receiving the news, the 42-year-old took some time off from acting which saw some people speculate he was retiring from Hollywood as a result of the discovery.
Hemsworth eventually clarified that the break was to spend more time with his children and wife Elsa Pataky and was planned ahead of the discovery.
In an interview with Vanity Fair, Chris admitted that the speculation left him ‘pissed off’.

He told the outlet: “It really kind of pissed me off because it felt like I had been vulnerable with something personal and shared this.
"No matter how much I said ‘This is not a death sentence,’ the story became that I have dementia and I’m reconsidering life and retiring and so on."
